    "simply the best"

Makedonia Palace is a landmark in Thessaloniki. That alone would not have been enough had it not been for the people who keep its heart beating & give the place its soul....

I keep returning at Easter time with my young daughter,in order to visit relatives in Thessaloniki.
The warm welcome is there for us, when getting off our taxi, coming from the airport.

As the Greek Easter has a special meaning to my compatriots, being treated like royalty on such "sensitive" days when everybody is busy vacating their posts, has particularly impressed me on every occasion.

From the reception desk, the cleaning staff, the room service, the bar & restaurant personnel,
to each & every member of the hotel staff no matter their rank, everybody seemed so friendly & dedicated, always aiming to please. We have been made to feel at home:that , in my mind is the true meaning of the greek word filoxenia/hospitality.

The accommodation is also exceptional, with ample rooms, elegantly decorated, comfortable beds, a luxurious bathroom etc. anything one would expect of a 5* establishment.

Nothing can beat the sea view though from the balconies (a sea view room is worth the surcharge, a higher floor preferable).

As for my little daughter`s ( & mine for that matter) Makedonia Palace`s all time favorite:
BEST BREAKFAST we`ve ever had in every aspect:
variety, freshness, quality, greek & local product display, excellent service
(among other things all types of hot beverages are offered to you at no extra charge)
-the most polite waiters & waitresses come to take your personal order although it`s a buffet breakfast.... THUMBS UP!!!!).

And, last but not least, I think, the most distinguished room service (a tip single mothers with sleeping kids or couples on a romantic trip will greatly appreciate). Still think of it as stylish "in room" dining ... :-)

Overall, an excellent experience I plan to repeat for the years to come & I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for a great hotel, with fabulous views & excellent service in Thessaloniki.

Room tip: sea view rooms are worth the surcharge the higher the floor the better the view of the bay

This place was heads and sholders above what we expected. There is a reason they continue to get four star ratings from Tripadvisor. The room was fantastic, spacious and well cleaned. The staff was knowledgable, helpfull and spoke english wonderfully. The breakfasts are buffet style and the selection, was again, fantastic. The hotel does sit a little away from downtown proper, but the bus system will get you there in no time. Only watch out - the street side rooms can be a bit loud (days and nights), and there was construction going on the boardwalk (while we were there) which meant the seaside rooms were noisy during the days too - but this shouldnt deter you from picking this place as your hotel.

Room tip: The roadside rooms are bit loud during days and nights, and the sound proofing on our room windows w...

    "Very comfortable hotel"

We stopped overnight here to break up our drive through to Nis, Serbia after staying on Zakynthos island. Very professional hotel with exceptional service. Non smoking indoors. Exceptional lobby and restaurant area and courteous staff. The pool and the exterior of the hotel were certainly tired in appearance but did not detract from the comfort of our stay.

    "Greek hospitality"

    Rate:  4 Stars

We stayed at the Makedonia Palace for a week in July as part of a large conference. The room was very nice overall, very quiet with a lovely view of the sea with a balcony, comfortable bed, but with an oddly laid out bathroom and few outlets. The lavish buffet breakfast was remarkable and probably the best we`ve ever encountered, with many hot and cold options and many regional selections. The breakfast staff was fantastic, promptly bringing us well-made cappuccinos, and clearing and re-stocking offerings. We felt quite pampered. Free wifi sounded great, but was often unavailable in the room due to overuse (likely due to the conference activity).

Room tip: Sea-side views are nice and quieter

"Great hotel with fabulous breakfast "

    Rate:  5 Stars

The hotel has been recently renovated. Our room was on the front of the hotel, looking out on the bay from our balcony. The room was completely new with a wonderfully firm matress and good a/c, flat screen tv, etc. the breakfast next morning (included) was amazing--a huge selection of Greek, American, European and Asian breakfast foods, hot and cold. The staff was very helpful.

Room tip: Book on the front of the hotel, for the view.

    "Excellent hotel"

I spent a week in this hotel in July with my family. I chose this hotel thanks to Tripadvisor and was not disappointed at all. The service is of very high quality. I read some concerning reviews about the noise coming from the street for rooms with city view. I had such a room and did not hear anything because all the rooms have a system of double windows.
The hotel has a wonderful swimming pool.
The location of the hotel is OK. I knew that the hotel was not in the city center but very close to it (20 mn walk). Given the cost of the taxis in Greece (3 euros from the city center to the hotel), I did not hesitate to take the taxi very often.

    "This Place Has "Heart" "

    Rate:  5 Stars

Greek hospitality and soul are alive and well at the Makedonia Palace. We are a Greek-American family -- a couple with a young child and a grandmother in tow --- who stayed at the Makedonia Palace for four days in July. We were in Thessaloniki to visit relatives. We couldn`t have been more pleased with the way we were treated at the Makedonia Palace! We found it to be far superior in terms of service to the Athens Hilton, where we also stayed on our trip. The Athens Hilton was a service wasteland, but the Makedonia Palace really has "heart."

The staff really fussed over us and went all out to please. They even gave us free use of a wheelchair so that it would be easier to take the grandma in our group on tours and through the hotel grounds. The breakfast is unbelievable... complete with Greek delicacies from difference parts of the country. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool is a great escape for the kids. The Makedonia Palace is family very -friendly.

We had two rooms facing the water, and we enjoyed the lovely ocean.view. We did find that there weren`t enough towels in the room, but when we called the front desk to ask for more, the towels arrived in minutes and were replenished each day.

If there are any negatives, they would be that food is expensive, and because the location is far from the city center and shops, you are pretty much stuck getting some food at the hotel.

Bottom line.... this is a GREAT place. We would definitely stay there again.

Room tip: The sea view rooms are very quiet and comfortable.

    "An elegant and friendly environment"

    Rate:  5 Stars

I have the opportunity to be a frequent visitor of Thessaloniki in the recent years. From my very first visit I had chosen MEKEDONIA PALACE and I was really not wrong in my choice. It is true that this hotel is called by the citizens of Thessaloniki, a "historic" one because it is linked with crucial and important events in Greece` s history. Perhaps this was the reason I had chosen it. Anyway, I was never disappointed. A friendly atmosphere from the very first moment is welcoming you and makes you feel ato home. A friendly and well trained reception staff, always ready to help. Rooms well furnished. Half of them having a marvelous view to Thermaikos bay and much further, until the Olympos mountain, the "house" of Zeus and the other 11 gods of ancient Greeks. The main restaurant, where you can have your breakfast, lunch and dinner, has also a view to the sea. Breakfast is an unforgettable experience. A very rich buffet is waiting you, with almost everything you can imagine and a low fat corner for diet food. As a very frequent traveller in many countries because of my job, I can say that is one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever seen in a hotel. And the menu for lunch or dinner are quite rich and the friendly and experinced restaurant`s and kitchen`s staff are ready to satisfy your special needs. And if you believe you gained many calories, there is the Gym and the big swimming pool with its open bar.
