"Loved, loved, loved it!"

Rate:  5 Stars

What a fabulous place! My husband and I stayed there for one night in mid-June and loved every minute of it! It`s the perfect combination of luxury/comfort while keeping in tradition with the local architecture and character. We had a double room in the courtyard area of the hotel which was spacious, beautifully decorated, and provided all the modern comforts and amenities one would need. There was ample closet space, a selection of pillows, wifi, mini-fridge, the bathroom was fully stocked with toilteries, slippers, etc. etc.; infact our room was much better in terms of comfort and amenities (and decor!) than our room at our recent stay at the Four Seasons in London!!! Now that says a lot! The service was fantastic, the staff very friendly and helpful, and breakfast delightful in the little courtyard area. More hotels in Greece need to pay notice that THIS is what you need to do to keep customers happy and returning!!!

"Warm welcome"

Rate:  4 Stars

We visited this hotel in the spring and received a very warm welcome from the rain! The hotel has been meticulously restored and is very comfortable, except perhaps for a bed which could have been wider. Breakfast was excellent, with home-made local produce. We were also offered local sweets and cakes on arrival which added to the welcome. The hotel is in easy reach of the ruined Byzantine town. The manager is a professional, and it shows.

"Peculiar place in the middle of nothing.."

Rate:  4 Stars

The house is beautifully restructured both inside and outside. We had a free upgrade to a suite which was very spacious and finely furnished. The staff was very nice and ready to meet all the turistic expectations in term of hints and suggestions. The location is a bit `away from everything. The breakfast is really poor even if of quality though.

"Perhaps ambitiously priced"

Rate:  4 Stars

This hotel was everything that has been said in previous reviews - which was why we went! The outdoor space is a little limited but very pleasant and welcome especially as the historic building has no balconies. The service was pleasant, efficient and welcoming.

In its market place however, the hotel is perhaps not very competative. It cant offer the same range of facilites as hotels in the same charge bracket and doesnt quite make up for that with its excellent decor and service. A very very good hotel but a bit pricey.

Other tips.

I ate at the restaurant "The Castle" - twice - it was marginal to poor. Look elsewhere.

As noted the location is not as shown by booking.com or other sites. Another posts on this site provides GPS locations. Even so, I had to call the hotel. The name on the building - it has a red door - is in Greek - not English.

"Personalised hotel service"

Rate:  5 Stars

A truly greek archontiko setting with impeccable friendly service and wonderful home made breakfast. Highly recommended for genuine hospitality seekers amidst a truly Byzantine setting. A reconverted mansion, with luxury down to the last detail. Highly recommend to anyone planning to visit Mystras. Accommodation makes up 80% of the experience. This hotel will not let you down and makes 100% of the experience.

Room tip: We stayed in the red room, first floor, but every room is unique.

"I love Mystras and I now love this hotel "

Rate:  5 Stars

We have planned to travel around Peloponnese this spring and I had to visit this magical place called Mystras. We had the most amazing time walking around the old town with the gorgeous views and the flowers. I have never stayed in Mystras before but when I found this hotel on the internet I was tempted. I can tell you we weren`t disappointed. We had the junior suite and it was good value for money for such a stunning room. It was so peaceful and also a short walk from the main square for evening drinks and dinner. Our hostess Maria was extremely nice offering us much needed refreshments when we arrived after all that walking up the castle. We had an amazing welcome with herbal tea and Greek cakes in the patio overlooking a small garden with orange trees. The smells from the flowers and the trees were divine. I think spring time is the best time to visit Mystras to enjoy nature. We had the most amazing breakfast with local products and homemade cakes and marmalades. Overall all it was such an amazing experience and we were really sorry when we had to leave to continue our journey. Definitely planning to come back and spend more time in this great little town staying in the best hotel of the area.

Room tip: Maria will help you with all your needs

"Best Stay of the Whole Trip "

Rate:  5 Stars

My friend discovered this amazing place on-line, last minute. Beautiful, intimate accomodations and world class service from Maria and staff. Renovated within the past few years, the room where we stayed was beautiful, with a chaise lounge, a big, soft bed...and fantastic claw-foot tub. The breakfast was huge...and delicious. Saw the ruins the next day, and the view from the top of the medieval city was breathtaking. To sum up, the Hotel Pyrgos and surrounding sights made Mystras the best part of our trip!

"A hidden gem, we had to two stay nights! "

Rate:  5 Stars

Mystra is a lovely little village with this amazingly comfortable "boutique" hotel. We were immediately made to feel at home on arrival, sitting down to sample some of the sweets made by staff. Our room was sooo comfortable with pillow top mattresses, flat screen TV, complete heating system for our room, and lots of bathroom amenities. The hotel is surrounded by orange trees where one can pick an orange or two.
The staff are very well trained and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The owners are not on site but have picked staff who treat the hotel as their home and you as their personal guests. We came for only 1 night but had to stay for 2 because we were so comfortable and felt so well taken care of by the staff.
