"Brilliant hotel and fabulous staff"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed at this hotel - summer 2011 and had a wonderful time. My partner and I were made welcome from the moment we were dropped off by the coach to the moment we left. Family run - nothing is too much trouble. Our room was large, spectacularly clean and well equipped. Our balcony looked out onto fields and it truly felt as if we had our own special getaway. The pool was immaculate and there was always somewhere to sit and relax. The food was amazing - excellent breakfasts, every day a new delicacy to try and most of the produce from the family`s own farm. Most evenings we chose to eat at the hotel - excellent value and always something new to try. This is a quiet hotel, surrounded by fields and a short wak to the beach and town. We were desperate for some sun and a rest and got just what we wanted. Next time we plan to go for two weeks!

"Beautiful, Welcoming, Family Run Hotel"

Rate:  5 Stars

The Aeolian Gaea is a wonderful, family run hotel in Skal Kallonis. Well kept, very clean and with real personal service from the family. Our room (311) was excellent - very spacious, spa bath and a huge balcony overlooking the fields. All the good comments on the other reviews are spot on - a superb place to stay.
Skala Kallonis is a small fishing village, with a little port and a square surrounded by low key bars and tavernas. Typically Greek and all the better for that.
Highly recommended.

"Stunning"

Rate:  5 Stars

We moved to this hotel after being dissatisfied with another hotel. We were very pleased with our choice. The family running the hotel were all very friendly and gave us good advice on places to visit. The hotel is 400m walk to the beach and a wide range tavernas, mostly overlooking the sea. The hotel is modern, clean and extremely well furnished and decorated, quiet, and has a very large and very clean swimming pool. I had a massage in the spa area which was excellent (40 euros) and they also did our washing for us for 10 euros. When sitting around the pool, iced glasses of water were provided without asking. We also had a meal one evening which was delicious but no more than we had expected given the sheer excellence of the breakfasts. We cannot speak highly enough of the hotel, or the family running it and this would be our number one choice on returning to the beautiful island of Lesvos. The location is central for the island`s attractions although a reasonable drive from the airport. The resort of Skala Kallonis is modern, smart and yet in our experience very reasonably priced.

A Spring birding holiday in Lesvos is made all the more enjoyable by staying at the Aeolian Gaea Hotel in Skala Kallonis. This family-run hotel is an excellent base and all facilities are of a very high standard, from the delightful breakfasts with home-made preserves to the well-furbished suites and rooms. Everyone is so pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommended.

"Superbly relaxing, comfortable stay, with great service"

Rate:  5 Stars

A big thank you to everyone at the hotel for a wonderful week`s stay.

We were allowed to check in early and shown to our room (211) which was spacious and very comfortable, with a large balcony and excellent self catering facilities. The pool was fantastic, especially compared to some accommodation we have stayed in in Greece, and the breakfast was delicious, varied and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble for the family who own and run the hotel, and they were able to give excellent recommendations for day trips all over the island. I would say car hire is a must though.

Skala Kalloni is low key and very Greek (if you see what I mean). `Ambrosia` was a superb all-round taverna for all the usual specialities, `Mimis` was a great, old-fashioned and reasonably priced fish taverna and `Faros` (Lighthouse) was a ridiculously good, totally local place for gyros, souvlaki etc...

If you want a beach, don`t stay here-go to Skala Eresou in the west. If you want historic chic, with an uber cute harbour, go to Molyvos, but I can highly recommend Skala Kalloni as authentically Greek, friendly, resonably priced and central for seeing all the island has to offer.

Room tip: 211 seemed to have a bigger balcony than some rooms.

"Fantastic value!"

Rate:  5 Stars

Skala Kallonis is the place to stay if you want to see the island in a few days. It is so central. We stayed here 4 nights in June 2012. This family-run hotel was a superb value. It was clean, the rooms were large, the breakfast was excellent, and the folks running the hotel are super-nice people. It`s not on the beach, but we travelled every day and went to some amazing places and never actually tried the beach locally. The pool is outstanding -- far larger than you would expect for a hotel this size. Bring your own beach towel because they aren`t available at the hotel (pool towels are available). Try Ambrosia for dinner in Skala Kallonis, it was fabulous. (Will try to review it separately.) Can`t say enough nice things about this hotel and the family that runs it.

Aeolian Gaea is hands down the best hotel on the island of Lesvos! Mesmerizing view, outstanding service from an amazing family and gorgeous rooms!! The hotel was conveniently located close to the beach and offered an enormous pool, the breakfast and the meals offered were made from the freshest ingredients and everything was extremely clean. "Excellent family run hotel"

Rate:  5 Stars

Have now stayed in this hotel on four consecutive years. The accommodation is spacious, very clean and well equipped. The owner family are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We were on bed and breakfast and the food was of excellent quality with lots of choice and much of the produce was sourced from the owners own farm. A delightful base for a holiday in Lesbos as it is very central.
