"Great staff, excellent childcare and good sailing "Rate:  5 Stars
We stayed at Vounaki for 2 weeks in June and had a fantastic time. Food, accommodation etc was good, and the sailing equipment and beach staff were both great. 2 things particularly stood out for us. Firstly, the childcare was excellent - our toddlers had a brilliant time in snappers and had 2 excellent key workers, Sarah and Emma. Secondly, Tibor was a fantastic fitness leader - with great energy and enthusiasm - his "energise" session is a must do (even in 40 degree heat!).

"Put Tibor in charge"Rate:  4 Stars
Tibor the fitness instructor was more motivated than most of the rest of the staff put together. Not only did he manage to get my teenage daughter to leave her sun bed for the aquafit pool class every day but had her smiling and enjoying it. Everyone from my teenage daughters to my 70 year old in laws participated every session. Excellent cant praise him enough.
The leaders of the teenage beach club however lacked any get up and go and seemed to need little or no excuse to do as little as possible activity wise, by day 5 they had still not had any water activities other than taking them to Tibor aquafit class. Even when we complained about how little they had done, little seem to change.
The overall experience was great, the food could not be faulted, the waiting staff were great, special thanks to Rebecca. Rooms were clean with decent air con.
Beach staff were all helpful. All equipment seemed well maintained.

"So good that I have been twice already this year and am going again in September.!"Rate:  5 Stars
I have been on many water sports holidays over many years,( I was at Vounaki 16 years ago, when it opened,) with Sunsail, Mark Warner and Neilson. This was one of the best I`ve ever had.
The accommodation is large, airy and clean. The full sized fridge in the room is very useful.
The food is of a very high standard, varied and appetising. I particularly like the array of salads every day.
The waterfront staff are terrific, very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The free clinics are extremely useful and should not be missed! Special mention to Bald Tom, Weasley (Robert),Fraser, Alli, Nick, posh Seb, Geordie, Sponge and Megan. Also all the other members of the team, too numerous to mention.
The wind is very variable, usually light from the south in the morning, and stronger from the North in the afternoon, allegedly kicking in at 3.45pm. As the beach stays open till 7pm every day but Monday, there is still time to utilise the higher wind conditions.
There is a very good selection of boats available, fewer windsurfers, as it is primarily a low wind resort.
The site is built on a steep slope, with numerous steps to the beach, Deck restaurant, bar, reception and most of the rooms. It is therefore unsuitable for those with mobility problems or parents with young children in pushchairs.
Tip, the only room without out steps are in block five, ground floor sea view rooms, nunbers about 501-509.
The shop at the Marina is very useful for buying water, soft drinks, wine, sandwiches and ice
creams. It is much cheaper than buying these at the Kirki bar, but not so cheap as the Supermarkets in Paleros; about 15 min stroll away.
The entertainment is a bit basic. The Quiz night and Greek evening are fun but the Salsa night is one to miss. The Prize giving night is a bit boring and could do with the injection of a bit of humour, whacky and different prizes.
On Sunday changeover day, all the guests on Flotilla, up to 200 people, have to leave the boats buy 9am, but do not leave the resort till 4.30 (Manchester flight) or 6.30 (Gatwick flight.)
This causes chaos in resort. Book your lounger on the beach or by the Pool, early, otherwise you won`t get one.
Also if you are on the Gatwick flight do not leave it too late to use the showers at the Marina, otherwise there are long queues. Also as they have already been used by the Manchester departures they tend to be a cross between a swamp and a mud bath. if you have several rooms it is worth keeping one of them on for a late checkout, at a cost of £35.
If you are a Solo traveller, try asking for the room share option. This way you save on the £100 a week single supplement, and might meet someone to share evening meals with.
The hotel does not cater at all well for the Solo Traveller. Unlike their competitors, Mark Warner and Neilson, there is no special dining table for Solo travellers, no attempt to bring them together and introduce them to each other; particularly at the beginning of the holiday.
I am gregarious and outgoing, so luckily I only had to eat alone once in the evening, during my 2 week stay, but if you are not, you may find yourself dining alone every night, the Solo traveller`s nightmare.
Next the web site. What a disaster. It does not do the resort justice. It is not interactive and you cannot book online. Join the 21st Century Sunsail and get a new Website!!!
Finally a mention for the hotel manager Panyeta, who is highly visible and approachable. She works incredibly hard and very long hours, checking the swimming pools and beach in the early morning and still joining in the Greek dancing, late at night!
All in all I had a fantastic time and with the above provisos, would thoroughly recommend this resort.
Room tip: Choose ground floor block 5 for no steps.

"Amazing Holiday Location "Rate:  5 Stars
Firstly I must mention the staff that really made a difference to our Holiday and if you are thinking of visiting Vounaki go and say hello. Dan the manager of the kirki bar was very helpful, and eager to please his staff were amazing especially jamie B!! The bar was always clean and service was excellent a great holiday atmosphere! my 15 year old son spent alot of his time there in between sailing a really safe enviroment and dan and his staff made him and his friends very welcome. You must also look out for Gary who is one of the lifeguards around the pools. He was so good with the holidaymakers and so alert around the pool, friendly and informative about the hotel and paleros. Demi on reception was very helpful and sarah who usually works in the nursery but on restaraunt duties during our stay was so happy, chatty and interested in us throughout our holiday. Laura also from the restaraunt stood out and made our stay really enjoyable.Amazing Hotel, food, entertainment, beach facilities and equipment. we had a great two weeks beach based. Although we read reports previous to our stay stating that there were only light winds therefore not ideal sailing weather. we were pleased to experience better winds the second week and although not as good the first week, the winds were regular and had a set pattern everyday. The beach staff organise racing events on the water everyday from laser series to canoe races and much more. You can be as active as you like at Vounaki or just relax. You can also take out day boats and explore the surrouning coastline which we did five times during our stay and had a great time. You do not need to book these before you go! its all included in the price of your holiday...all you need to do is report to the marina and put your name and room number in a draw first thing on monday morning, the draw then takes place at 2pm monday and your given your alloted day/days.Paleros is a ten minute stroll away and the quickest route is from the beach along a dirt track that joins the main road this avoids any hills!! The yacht club is worth a visit and thier stone baked pizzas are huge and house wine cheap.and good.We are already planning our next trip! Christine at sunsail booking office was amazing and really advised me well, conatct her to make your booking..I even prebooked my rooms before I left and had a lovely sea view overlooking the pool, Christine definately was useful with handy hints and tips and recommending keeping one of the rooms on for late checkout on the day of departure. All in All a fabulous holiday!!
Room tip: At sunsail book with Christine, she will email you a plan of the resort and recommend the ideal room...

"Fantastic family holiday"Rate:  5 Stars
We are just back from a fantastic family holiday which was enjoyed by all. First and foremost the one thing that impressed me most was the childcare. I had one son in Snappers and another in Urchins. Both boys had an aboslutely brilliant time and were constantly doing fun activities and making new friends. Our youngest would literally beg to go to bed at the end of the day - that is a first. I cannot praise the childcare team highly enough and there are too many names to mention but special thanks to Sarah, Aimee, Leanne, Emma, Danni, Jodie and Dulcie.
Special thanks to Tibor, The fitness instructor. His enthusiasm and motivation is catching and his patience trying to teach my son to swim was incredible.
There is really something for everyone you can do as little or as much as you want.
The rooms are modern and functional and extremely clean. All the staff are very helpful and at times almost slightly regimental. I get the impression that management run a tight team and all the staff are petrified of stepping out of line and being put on the next flight home.
The negatives are that trying to get a drinka at the bar was nigh on impossible with a wait sometimes of up to 20 minutes. More staff are needed or professional bar staff that can serve more than one person at a time. That said Andy and Kane were very good.
I was suprised at the extras that have to be paid for. Despite all childcare being included there are quite alot of additional extras and although the kids are all inclusive the extras really do add up. Our bill for icecreams/drink whilst the boys were at kifds club was €140.
On Thursday night with no meal provided most people venture into Paleros. I can highly recommend the New Mill Tavern. Great food and hospitality although it is off the beaten track.
This was the first time that we have tried a holiday like this and we are now total converts and are booking for next year

"A great first sunsail holiday!"Rate:  4 Stars
We have just come back from two wonderful weeks at Vounaki. It`s our first ever experience of a sun sail holiday and staying at an inclusive hotel. It has been a fantastic experience overall. The welcome was great at the hotel with the staff waiting to greet us and escort us to our room. The holiday got better and better each day. Our kids age 7 and 10 loved the kids clubs so much they begged to go on Sundays on the staffs day off!! They experienced an abundance of activities such as sailing(or 10 year old passed youth stage 2!) windsurfing, wake boarding, kayaking, ringos as well as activities on land such as treasure hunts and cocktail making!!! All of the kids club staff are brilliant and cannot thank them enough for their energy and kindness for the girls during the two weeks we were there. The sailing mostly done by my husband was great (despite the lack of wind on some occasions) he found the beach staff very friendly and knowledgeable. I did my level one sailing course whilst there and found Rob my instructor to be so calm and patient! I also visited the spa several times and had some very reasonable treatments by the lovely therapist Effi - well worth a trip.
The food at Vounaki is wonderful and varied its not a place to worry about diets. Although a trip to aqua aerobics or fitness with the amazing Tibor eases the guilt! The cocktails are good too - although the can be quite a wait to get served at the bars - something the hotel needs to address to stop disgruntled customers!!
Also Sundays at the hotel can be chaotic with people checking out of hotels and flotilla people waiting for flights there are not enough sunbeds to go around something which causes anguish!!!
Overall we had a good holiday and will return.
