Just arrived back from the Oceania with my girlfriend after a lovely week stay. We arrived to a warm, pleasant welcome from a member of the Oceania staff who informed us about the hotel and provided us with key cards and information packs along with a glass of sparkling wine which was a nice touch.

In a hurry to look at the views, check out the surroundings and generally be glad for a sit down, i mis-understood the procedure for taking our bags to the room. When you`re given the green stickers, take them to your bags and whack them on - otherwise they`ll not know which room to go to and you`ll be sat in your room waiting for bags that are still in reception. We made this mistake and, through no fault of the hotel, were sat waiting a while because we were in such a hurry to get to the room, offload our stuff and get out in the sun, we`d forgotten to stick the green stickers to the bags.

The room we booked was a `limited sea view room` and turned out to be one of the best views of all the rooms in the hotel. The rooms are really spacious, have an enormous bed, t.v with a few English channels and Eurosport which was ideal to watch the Olympics. The mini bar was topped up each day which was a nice feature when you arrive back at the room to have a cold beer waiting for you.

Once out in the sun, we had the opportunity to check out the hotel`s pool and surrounding areas. The pool is well maintained, looked after and quite warm when you get in. The towels are always ready and waiting for you and the staff around the pool (and beach) can`t do enough to help. Top tip - we`re quite lazy, meaning we weren`t out in the sun until 11 ish after breakfast. At this time, there weren`t any beds left around the pool, forcing us to go down to the beach.

The food is fantastic. I`m a massive meat fan, i`d recommend the pork and chicken over the lamb and beef though. My girlfriend also made a bold statement that the spag bol was up there with the best she`d ever had. There`s heaps of variety, heaps of choice and something for everyone. Moreover, we went to 2 of the 3 a`la carte restaurants (Greek and Italian) and thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

Due to our laziness, we found ourselves down at the beach most days. It`s a bit rocky but generally really nice. The staff bring you watermelon and grapes a few times a day, asking if you`ll take some and then, to my amusement, asking you to take more as the tray`s really heavy!!! The sandbags that are rolled out are a smart feature, preventing any chance of standing on urchins. If you swim out maybe 10 metres, there`s sand in which you can stand up and play bat and ball etc. We bought a lilo from the hotel shop which turned out to be a good idea to laze around in the sea and not worry about what you`re stepping on.

The activities in the daytime provide an opportunity to get to know other people and generally have some fun. There`s also something for everyone, from aerobics to quizzes to waterpolo and beach volleybal. I`d recommend the casino night in the Astra nightclub also; really good fun and a change from other night time shows which i found a bit cheesy.

The market on wednesday morning was alright. There were loads of fruit/veg, clothing, bags etc. I`m glad we had a walk down there, even though i was glad to jump in the pool after the trek back in the heat.

Overall, the Oceania has something for everyone. I`d recommend the hotel to families, couples, teenagers, people who like to be active on holiday and people who prefer to chill. The views are fantastic, the hotel is very well run, food`s great and the staff are excellent. 5 star week away, one in which we`ll recommend to others.

"Once again an excellent holiday "

    Rate:  5 Stars

This was our 3rd visit to Oceania but my 1st review on Trip Advisor.

We have just returned from a superb 11 night stay.

In the party there were 6x Adults, 3x 16 Year olds and 2x 10 Year Olds.

I can not fault the hotel, service or food - Everything is 1st class.

Being in building 5 in the deluxe junior suites is wonderful as there is a lovely pool and pool bar for only approx 30 rooms.

The service you recieve from the staff is faultless, they look after you so so well - Lilla this year deserves a special mention.

Add to this a cracking view - I think it is perfection.

The 16 year olds love it there as do the 10 year olds and for the adults the food in the buffett is very good, yes this restaurant is busy and noisy at the wrong times but go at 7.30pm or 9.00pm and is is perfect.

I had no problems booking the al-a-carte restaurants - all Three are fantastic - my favourite, the Taverna then Asian then Italian.

George and Dafy in the Taverna - Fantastic.

Yes, there were a few minor issues but all of these were sorted out immediately by Timos (Hotel Manager) and Maria (Guest Relations) and the minor issues were more then resolved.

I have visited some excellent hotels in Australia, Asia and Carribean but i can honestly say that the Oceania for a family holiday matches any of those.

For what you pay for what you get is worth every penny. Quality and Value i think sum up Oceania.

Before we arrived this year, the 3 families spoke and said that probably 3 times is enough but i can confirm that after a cracking holiday we will be returning in 2013.

Room tip: The Deluxe Junior Suites in Building 5 are superb.

"5th visit and it gets better ! "

    Rate:  5 Stars

Just returned from our 5th trip to Oceania in 6 years

So why go back to the same place every year ?......because it works, that`s why !

At Oceania you don`t have to think about anything. We have 3 kids now age 13-15, the independence they get here is great for them, and even better for us. They get to make friends, go out for lunch with them, ride the crazy couch, mooch around and all under the gently watchful eye of the staff (not that they are babysitters, but they will offer kids "guidance" where necessary). And while they are out exploring their independence, we get to talk to each other over quiet lunches in the Taverna.
From the first hour of being there you start to unwind. It was best summarised by another Oceania friend, John, who saw me at the Taverna within 2 hours of arriving, beer in my hand and Greek salad with Gyros on my plate. He saw the chilled look on my face, tapped me on the shoulder and said "welcome home". That is exactly what it is like for any "repeaters" as we are known. You come back to meet your Oceania family......and they are all pleased to see you.

    Highlights and changes this year:
Breakfast at the Taverna in the open air is more relaxing than in the big restaurant
A private evening dinner on the beach was an incredible experience, staff running up and down the steps from the Taverna bring special dishes that you don`t normally see on the menu ( a must for anyone who wants to make their other half feel special). It was the only "extra" we paid for, but it was worth it. top tip: if you arrange this, don`t tell your other half, when they see the way the beach is set up, you`ll get happy tears !
We hired Reginna`s new boat for a couple of hours and two dads and two lads had a great trip down to the canal and across the first peninsula into calmer waters, where we dropped anchor and snorkelled for half an hour before the same journey back. The induction at the start was very comprehensive and allowed two novices to safely use her pride and joy in safety and yes, the boys did have a little go at driving the boat on the open sea and through the canal at Nea Potidea (scene of the world`s first recorded tsunami that destroyed the invading Persian army when they tried to sneak across the canal at what they thought was an incredibly low tide !!)
We made good use of the Spa this year, a tranquil dip in the cooler indoor pool was a blessed relief as the temperature was in the high 30s outside.
The air conditioned squash courts are worth a session.

In terms of the staff I cannot speak highly enough of them, they will do anything for you that is reasonably possible, and all it costs you is a smile accompanied by a please and thankyou.
Whether it is George in the taverna serving you a quiet beer during the late afternoon snack period. Irina asking if you would like a cheeky drink (which always tastes better than a normal one), Lilla with her infectious smile and giggle, Vangelis on the gyro grill offering wisdom or natural potions from the kitchen for sunburn and rashes, Livu in Thalassa who calmly manages an incredible number of diners through their evening meals......they are the stars of the show !
......and the unsung heros, Maria`s housekeeping staff, here`s an example of service. Mr Timos (with his allseeing eye) catches me in the Taverna on our first afternoon and asks his usual "everything ok ?". With 3 women in the family I mention that we could do with a few more coat hangers in the wardrobe, "how many ?" to which I jokingly reply "25". You`ve guessed it, by the time I`ve walked the 400 yards or so to the room precisely 25 coat hangers are laid out on the couch.

    Top tips:
Parents need to work harder and spend that bit extra to get into the exclusive suites that surround the smaller pool on the upper level (romantically named "Building 5").
Book the a la carte Asian, Italian and Greek restaurants early to add some variety to your evening dining experience.

Finally, it would be wrong not to mention our misplaced concerns about booking in Greece with the current economic fears over Greece`s future. Oceania appears to be immune from a downturn in the economy with standards of food, drinks and service being improved if anything. We also saw no signs of the scaremongering stories we hear in the media about the impact on the Greek people. For what it`s worth, on our trips out they all appeared to be on good form and pleased to receive our patronage.

So every year we leave Oceania and say, we should try somewhere else in the world next year, so let`s see what happens after Christmas when we plan the year ahead.

    Rate:  5 Stars

Enjoyed a one week stay with three teenage children in early August when hotel was full so a good test. Overall service levels are amazing for the price and everything said about the friendliness and efficiency of the staff in all the other reviews is true. Food is good overall, particularly in the three themed restaaurants and would highly recommend the Taverna for breakfast and lunch. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and the majority are well positioned. Gym and spa are exceptional. Only downsides are wine in the main restaurant, which is awful, the overpriced motorised water sports on beach (not part of the hotel) and a general lack of activities outside the hotel eg boat trips.

Room tip: Block 1 is close to pool and beach and away from nightclub

"What all hotels should be like!"

    Rate:  5 Stars

The only negative we have from our holiday is that we had to leave! From the first day of our 10 days we were made to feel at ease and the staff immediately began making our experience one to remember. Within an hour of arriving we were having cocktails on our sunbeds by the pool. We were amazed at how attentive all of the staff are and it`s always service with a genuine smile. The staff by the pool work so hard, we worked out it was possible to have a drink every 10 minutes without moving from the sunbed! The facilities were of the highest quality and this hotel lives up to its 5* rating.

One night we decided to have a few drinks before retiring to our room to watch a DVD. Anna on reception recommended a few dvd`s, each night after Anna had put aside a number of other dvd`s which she felt we would like. This level of attention can be seen in all areas of the hotel.

Dining in the hotel is a pleasurable experience, the food is prepared to a very high quality and the variety of choice caters for all young or old. If you want a more intimate environment then the themed restaurants are a must. Again the staff could not do enough to make sure our evening was a memorable experience.

This hotel will not disappoint on any level and we are already planning our trip back.

    "Fab Holiday "

    Rate:  5 Stars

Have just returned from our third consecutive visit to this fabulous hotel.

The friendly staff are great. Nothing is too much for them, especially George and Daffy in The Greek Taverna and Maria at Reception. We have 2 children, 9 and 15 and there is lots for them to do. Lots of day and evening activities for all. We particularly enjoyed the Casino night and the Mama Mia Show.

I am amazed at how many people come year after year. Speaking to one couple they have been going to the Oceania for 10 years!!!! There were a couple of small issues but they were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The cleanliness of the rooms and around the pool were excellent. The food in the buffet was good with each night having a different theme so you didn`t get fed up with it. The al-a-carte restuarants were fab, my favourite being the Greek Taverna.

All in all it is a great value for money family holiday. Even though I did say before I went this time that I would like to go somewhere else next year, we will be going back next year!!!!!

Just returned from oceania club. The hotel is pleasant but not 5 star. We booked thinking luxury and after reading reviews were looking forward to our stay.... dont get me wrong it was O.K but people had said food was amazing etc, if you are wanting anything other than average this hotel is not for you and is certainly over priced for what it is. The local village is to say the least run down graffiti everywhere, think back to the future and youre there, we were looking forward to pretty houses nice tavernas true greek style.. what a dissapointment i could have cried infact i did. The drinks were not any branded as the website states they were cheap local spirits & local beer. I would not visit again, however we went on a scuba diving trip to sani beach club in kassandra Wow, this place was 5 star amazing we spent the day and were wishing we had booked this hotel for the same price on a half board basis. so sorry if you were gettin excited about oceania, just dont expect too much!!!!

    "Fantastic hotel"

    Rate:  5 Stars

We have just spent 2 brilliant weeks at the Oceania and will definately be returning again. We have already raved about this hotel to all our friends and one has already booked to go next October on the strength of our reviews!
Our holiday here was great from start to finish and the kids do not want to go anywhere else now. We were met on arrival by friendly Maria on reception and all offered drinks which were very welcome. Our room overlooking the sea was spotlessly clean and spacious even for 2 adults and two older children. The resort itself was extremely clean and well kept and pools very clean, warm and safe. We met some lovely people there including George from the taverna, Maria customer relations, Razvan and Eva from the beach bar, Austinja and Artemis who were all very helpful and lovely. The entertainment team at the resort were also great fun and very friendly - thanks Emmellia, Danielle and Graham!
The food was excellent in the buffet restaurant and also the three a la carte restaurants all of which we booked without problem.
We also, as it was my husbands birthday, dined privately on the beach one evening which was a truly wonderful experience and one that Timos needs to get promoting! :-)
All in all a fantastic holiday thanks again Timos and the gang!

We went here for a family holiday and to celebrate my Father in law`s 60th. The hotel is beautifully equipped and there is no need to leave the complex. The gym and spa is fantastic, the choice of restaurants provide great variety and the pools are all beautiful. Our junior suite was big enough for the four of us, and the bathroom was well appointed. All this is enough to make me want to return, but the most fantastic aspect of the hotel is its staff. They are all so friendly and helpful and from the first hello to waving off our taxis they could not have done more to make our holiday special. Congratulations to Timmo and his team for creating a brilliant holiday experience!

    Rate:  5 Stars

Just spent two fantastic weeks at this hotel with our teenage kids aged 13 & 14. We had previously spent 3 holidays at the Sani Beach Club and would never have believed we could match the experience. But we did! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome & comfortable. Every single member of staff is courteous and friendly all day every day. Timos, the Manager, is around the hotel all the time chatting to the residents and nothing is a problem. His staff have enormous respect for him and he manages an incredibly well run and efficient hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. The food in all of the restaurants is of a consistently high standard and not once did we tire of the choice. We hardly saw our kids for two weeks as they made friends immediately and we knew that they were safe at all times. They had the best holiday ever! The bar staff around the pool and on the beach work tirelessly and with a permanent smile even in 38deg heat (Austeja deserves a mention here). This is the only August holiday where we did not have to set an alarm to get up and save a sun lounger. The Russians tended to spend the mornings on the beach which left plenty of room around the swimming pool for the rest of us. The only areas which we feel need addressing are that there are no cushions on the loungers on the beach nor are there any showers around the swimming pool. Otherwise, this hotel is absolutely perfect for teenagers and for tired parents who enjoy comfort and luxury. We have already booked to return for 2wks next August. Well done Timos & the team - keep up the hard work - it certainly pays off.

Room tip: Worth paying the extra supplement for a sea view.
