Generally, Lucy Hotel is a good place for a short vacation. We were given a very small room without a balcony and it was a city view room - the worst combination, so the first day I was ready to leave the hotel. Total disappointment. The walk round the hotel made me sorry I had travelled for hours to get there - dry grass, rocks - awful surroundings! The beach is not good also - hotel area is too small, there are not enough umbrellas, and the beds and umbrellas are being locked, so you have to look for the "beach boy" to unlock one for you, if there are vacant umbrellas, of course. As for the sea water - it is very, very, very dirty! Another minus - the staff at the reception is not very friendly. What I liked in Lucy: 1. Rooms are cleaned and the towels changed EVERY SINGLE DAY. (But there is no place for the wet towels and clothes.) 2. Air conditioning is perfect. 3.What I liked the most is ANATOLI restaurant - always perfectly clean and shining white! Food is also perfect - breakfast was so varied, the dinner - slightly monotonous, but both - always very, very delicious. The staff in the restaurant is also good and smiling. Excellent service. 4. The double bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in!! At the end - despite the negatives, I think I would stay at LUCY again.

Room tip: Choose a room with a balcony!!

"Nice hotel but very unfriendly"

Rate:  2 Stars

We stayed two nights. When checking in the receptionist ignored us for some time before checking us in. Only when she saw we were in an executive room did her attitude change. All the staff were very off-hand, or just rude. The evening buffet was very poor. Again the staff ignored us, but the food was limited and the chicken was pink! More like a free for all at but links than a five star hotel. We went to the bar at 9:30 pm and there was no one at all in there.
On the positives the room was fantastic (although the table had not been cleaned). The views from the executive room are lovely The pool area is very nice and general decor is good. I won`t be coming back.

"Lucy hotel the best of kavala"

Rate:  5 Stars

I was on the weekend in this nice 5 stars hotel.
Really its fantastic place. The rooms are clean the staff is helpfull the food is quite nice the waterfront rooms wiev are very nice the beach is excellent.Too many sunbeds on the beach and the pool.
The furniture is excellent , the bathroom is extra. We get a superior room with terrace ,the twin bed was very comfortable
The hotel is waterfront and just on the right there is a big market that you can buy everything.
For going to the center you can take the number 8 bus and after 5 minutes you are in the center of kavala.
If you are on the beach or the pool the hotel is giving towels:
If you are hungry there are too many restaurants where you can eat seafood on the beach and drink the uozo raki or beer or wine The prices are couple 40 €.
I would definately recommend the hotel and will go back.

Room tip: Ask for waterfront room if you are lucky number 518

"Very Good Hotel - not a central location "

Rate:  4 Stars

I bused to this hotel having flown to Thessaloniki where I stayed before and after travelling to Kavala. Buses from Thessaloniki to Kavala go from the KTEL Makedonia Bus station which is just outside the city. Airport buses travel between this bus station and the airport so its actually easy to fly to Thessaloniki and travel onwards to Kavala. The buses are coaches, air conditioned and comfortable, there are measures in place to ensure that luggage is safe. It takes about 2 - 2 and a half hours and the scenary on the way is often fantastic. It costs 26 euros return. (There is no train station at Kavala).

The Lucy Hotel is actually on the outskirts of Kavala and is on a promintary with views out to the city, Thassos island and a small beach. So there are advantages of access to the city, yet having the beach/seaside. However its a good 40 minute walk into town which gets better/more interesting as you get nearer town. Although the walk is predominantly by the sea, its always along side a busy dual carriage way. It is also possible to take the bus, the number five into town and the number 4 back from town - it takes about 10 minutes.

The hotel itself is modern, clean and clearly newly refurbished. Reception staff are very helpful. Good and comfortable rooms with stylish bathrooms, with great sea views and balcony - only thing missing was a bathrobe.

The pool is fantastic - excellent size, very clean and lots of sunbeds.

When I first arrived breakfast was taken in what appeared to be the banqueting suite - with large tables for ten in a very hot room with a range of food on a large table in the middle. It was very off putting. This was due to some large groups staying in the hotel. I preferred it in the restaurant- where there are great sea views. The choice of food was OK- I found lots of fresh fruit, greek yogert and honey and cheese pies.

Kavala itself is a small city, rather out on a limb from the rest of Greece and certainly not sophisticated. Well worth a visit - there is lots to see and a weekly market by the sea on a Saturday. Its also easy to go over to Thasssos island - the ferry goes to Skala Prinos and costs 4.30 euros each way.

Room tip: Sea view is best

"confortable, relaxing "

Slightly off city center (in a small city that doesn`t mean much), the hotel offers newly furbished, spacious rooms, nice view, friendly staff at front desk -service at breakfast wasn`t that gorgeous- and parking facility. Price is very reasonable.

"Nice but definitely not a 5 star hotel "

Rate:  4 Stars

If you are expecting 5 star you will be dissapointed. Very modern and clean but not too special. The beach is rocky and the water is a little dirty for a greek beach. There is nothing wrong with the hotel its just not worth the 140 euro per night price.

"Not the friendliest hotel..."

Rate:  2 Stars

The Lucy Hotel in Kavala looks really beautiful from the pictures that are posted on their website and it is; the pool is lovely, the lobby has a nice high ceiling and the dining rooms have a great view. However, the staff at the hotel leave a lot to be desired. They speak very little English and the English they do speak is very blunt, unfriendly and they are not helpful at all. For example we asked where the bus stop we needed was, we were told that it was across the street from the super market and the bus we needed would be green. Green?? Really?? The bus stop turned out to be 4 blocks from where they said and the bus was not green. Thank goodness there was someone else waiting for the same bus. This type of answer was very typical of the staff at the front desk when asked almost any question. The staff at the pool screwed up our order nearly every time and frequently put the wrong food on the wrong bill. When one of the members of our party tried to sent a salad back because it was unsatisfactory and ordered a substitute salad, she was billed for both because they "can`t remove items from a bill." The staff at the pool were also very rude and confrontational, and it took 30 - 45 minutes to get our food each time we ordered. We stayed at the hotel for 11 nights and they did not clean the shower or the vacuum the carpet the entire we were there - this was obvious from the sand in the shower day after day from the beach and the nail clippings in the carpet. The breakfast buffet got incredibly boring and the dinner buffet was extremely overpriced at 17 euros/person. The regular food you could order was tasty though. We paid less than that to eat at much better restaurants in town. The hotel is not close to downtown, where nearly EVERYTHING was, so we had to take at least 2 taxis per day.

The beds were comfortable and the 2 shower head system was handy when trying to get rid of sand in certain places. The pool was by far the best part of the hotel - it was very nice, big and clean.

In the time we were there, we did figure out a few things, such as to get the information we needed, we had to ask a totally unrelated question and to only order food from one the restaurants in order to get speedy and efficient service.

Overall, I would NOT go back to this hotel if you don`t speak Greek and care about service.

"Superb stay!"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed in Lucy Hotel for ten days. It is a beautifully renovated hotel on a very special spot, overlooking the sea. There is a very nice and clean beach right in front of the hotel. It is quite close to walk to the picturesque Kavala Old town. Our room was spacious, clean, the bathroom was spotless and the sea view excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the price excellent value for money. We would definitely stay there again.

"relax "

Rate:  5 Stars

Lucy hotel is located in the tourist area of Kavala and with the car is fast coming to the center, about 2-3 kilometers. Rooms are decorated with beautiful design, excellent furniture, the bathroom is extra. We get a superior room with two terrace even though we paid an ordinary room without a terrace overlooking the city, which is our further impressed. Food is always fantastic with good choice. Room clened two times a day. Kavala is a beautiful town, which is worth seeing, lots of shops, cafes. Objection to the beach near the hotel that was dirty in the dirty water, after which we visited on the beach 25 km from the hotel, however, and there is sea water is dirty. Hotel pool is a good size, cleaned regularly, have a savior that strictly forbids jumping into the water and act as a policeman. Lucy hotel is good option for those who had been at sea near Kavala, (we have been to Thassos 11 days) swam in the clean beaches, and in Kavala we were five days, where we shoping and the night coming out.
