"Good stay & friendly staff"

Rate:  4 Stars

Nice hotel with very good, supportive & friendly staff. Walking distance from several sightseeing, good service & breakfast menu.

Recommended for people who would like to have a stay in a good rate hotel close to SultanAhmet & other tourists & shopping areas.

Room tip: book your room starting 4th floor & up.

"Great stay at the Sumengen in August 2012"

Rate:  5 Stars

What a great stay. Perfectly situated for the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Arasta Bazaar and with lovely little restaurants (forget the fish one on the corner they are expensive when the "extras" are added on) on the doorstep of the Sumengen. Room 602 (with jacuzzi in the bedroom) overlooks the Bosporus and the hidden gem is the (seemingly unknown to everyone when we were there) 7th floor terrace with amazing views. Breakfast was good, staff pleasant and front desk accommodating - 10/10. Peter & Sally, Cape Town, South Africa

Room tip: Room 602 is the absolute best

"Noisy and rather dated"

Rate:  3 Stars

I booked into this hotel following recommendations on Tripadvisor. This time, I am rather disappointed. The room was right above a railway line at at 1 am, there are still trains running! The window was not soundproof which didn`t help. When I book a room with a Jacuzzi, I was expecting the Jacuzzi to be in the bathroom, not in the bedroom itself. The air-conditioning wasn`t powerful enough and because the hot water pipe to Jacuzzi runs under the floor across the room, the room quite uncomfortable on a hot night. The sofa was dirty. The staff were very helpful. If you ask me whether I will go back again, definitely not. There are better hotels in Istanbul.

"Sumengen Hotel. `nuff said."

Rate:  5 Stars

Besides the fact that the Sumengen Hotel`s location is perfect, that the rooms are very nice; the beds are comfortable, along with the reasonably sized pull-out couch. The showers have a very nice pressure, they have a wonderful breakfast room, with tasty breakfast foods every morning with a stunning view of the Bosporus! Besides all of that, what really makes the Sumengen Hotel is everyone who works there! Especially Enes Yanik and Ugur Sarikaya! We love those two! You walk into the hotel and you feel at home right away with their warm genuine smiles, welcoming you back with their friendly "hello`s" asking how your day was. And when you leave they wish you a good day. It really feels like they care about you. Enes and Ugur were beyond friendly, the two were very gracious. They were helpful and gave the best advice and explained directions clearly for us when we did not know where to go. Their English was very good as well, which was a big help! My family and I looked forward to going back to the hotel to see them because they were so polite and friendly. We often find ourselves talking about how much we loved everyone who works at the hotel to our friends. Everyone at Sumengen was so polite making leaving the hotel hard. I have never felt so at home or met anyone as sincere as everyone who works at the Sumengen Hotel. Especially Enes and Ugur. They really stood out to us.
WE LOVE SUMENGEN! :)

"Tony`s review - a regular guest!"

Rate:  5 Stars

Excellent facilities and service - as always! Many thanks especially to Gokhan, Enes and Ugur for their cheerful, helpful approach - much appreciated. This is my third stay and I always enjoy the hotel. I hope to be back next Easter or Summer again. The only thing I was missing was a swimming pool - could you advise me when I return of a hotel with a pool in Sultanahmet that you would recommend to guests.

Inshallah see you in 2013.

Tony

Room tip: All are very good, but of course a higher floor has better views.
