"Ask for a room with a view..."Rate:  4 Stars
I really liked this hotel for several reasons, location being the first! It is in a small, quiet street down by the bosphore, but just a few minutes walk from topkapi, hagia sofia, gulhane park, and the most amazing hammam and bath house I`ve ever visited (Suleymaniye hamam).
There is a lovely courtyard in front with a breathtaking view of a gorgeous mosque. The reception area and the hallways are not in an architectural style that I particularly appreciate, but what`s cool is that it is really an old mansion and has that feel. But it`s not what I`d call "gorgeous".
Where it gets really amazing is when you step out on the back terrace with its view of the bosphore. There are a number of rooms on the upper stories with large balconies that open out to this spellbinding view. I think the rooms are not all created equal! I stayed in a motel-ish room off to the side that really could use some remodeling (a softer bed and some modern linens would really help)! I really did enjoy the traditional bathroom with it`s stone washbasin and heated marble slab in lieue of a shower - but some people we travelled with who had a similar set up did not like it at all.
Others in our party had much, much nicer rooms with a great view. If I had booked the room I stayed in for a romantic Istanbul weekend, I would have been sorely disappointed - but I`d have been very happy with the nicer rooms.
The staff is very helpful and friendly, as mentioned. There`s wifi, and there`s a restaurant. It is impeccably clean (as are most places in Turkey, where cleanliness is an absolute priority). It`s kind of no-frills, but very low key. We were there for work, several people stayed a number of weeks and really appreciated the place for the quiet, low-key atmosphere and convenient location.
Room tip: Ask for a room in back, overlooking the water - with a balcony! The rooms on the side are really sma...

"My favorite hotel in Turkey and one of my favorites anywhere"Rate:  5 Stars
Small, quaint, lovely, comfortable and well appointed rooms. Just 1 block from the Blue Mosque & Hague Sofia, a long but fun walk to the Bazaar, and a great jumping off point for most of old Istanbul.

"Great Authentic Turkish Palace"Rate:  5 Stars
If you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not your destination hotel. Staying in this hotel gave myself and my family a touch of the old Turkish palaces and how it was designed. Overlooking the fascinating Blue mosque on one side and the Bosphore, I personally think it has the best ever view of the blue mosque.
The property location is amazing, in the middle of the main attractions of the golden horn, the garden of the hotel is an amazing place to spend time in sipping a glass of Turkish tea. Rooms are clean and tidy, maybe needs little renovation is needed sometime soon.
One of the great things about this hotel is their staff, they are VERY helpful and goes the extra mile to help and guide you around, they followed up my lost luggage with Turkish Airlines (it makes a difference when they speak to them in Turkish), made reservation in restaurants....
Great experience, will stay their again for sure when I`m next time in Istanbul for pleasure....
Room tip: The room 220 has the best balcony...try it.

"This Hotel is friendly, quiet and clean"Rate:  5 Stars
The Sultanahmet Palace Hotel is an oasis in a very chaotic city. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is very good in the beautiful dining room overlooking the ocean. The room was quiet and clean, with a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable.
Room tip: The room with a balcony at the front of the hotel faces the Blue Mosque, very cool to sit out in the...
