"Fabulous Service"

Rate:  5 Stars

We had an unbelievable experience at Le Meridien Hotel in Istanbul. We redeemed our Starwood points to stay here during part of our honeymoon and were absolutely blown away by the service. Each member of the staff that we encountered wished us a happy honeymoon and went above and beyond for us. We were immediately upgraded upon check in and were welcomed with champagne, strawberries and chocolate. We had an issue with the AC in our room and the staff attended to it immediately and called multiple times to make sure everything was working properly. The concierge was especially wonderful and impressive. She gave us amazing advice and fantastic suggestions of places to see, where to shop and most importantly where to eat. She was friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgable. We followed her advice every day of our stay and had an incredible time.

At first we were a little frustrated that the hotel was so far away from the major Istanbul sites but after one day we were thrilled to be outside of the touristy old city. It was wonderful to have some quite away from the center of things. The taxi ride is not bad and not too expensive. The distance did not matter and was worth it. The location of the hotel also allowed us to explore areas of Istanbul that we would not have seen otherwise such as the lovely Babek neighborhood. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it.

"Beautiful hotel but really far from Istanbul"

Rate:  4 Stars

This is a truly lovely hotel with wonderful pools, a great restaurant, and every creature comfort you can imagine. I booked this because my family was just arriving from the US via Rome and knew they would be very tired and in need of comfort. it did not disappoint at all.

The one relatively big drawback for those of you who want to use it as a base to explore Istanbul is that it`s a real hike to the city. Easily a 30-45 minute cab ride in good conditions. If you book this hotel, just be aware that it is very far and not convenient at all to exploring the city.

The surrounding neighborhood is very nice with good restaurants etc, and the hotel is beautiful and new, but again, you might want to think about staying elsewhere if you have limited time and want to see the city.

"Wonderful but far"

Rate:  5 Stars

I was at the hotel for 2 nights and 3 days, there was a conference for the Arab Awakening and peace in the Middle East. This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been to. Very modern, the rooms are spacious with an amazing view of the bridge that connects Europe and Asia. The breakfast and dinner in the restaurant on the 4th floor was amazing. Then on the 34th and last floor you have a lounge with the most astonishing view. The staff are very helpful, and kind. The special touches that everything had really made a difference. The only negative aspect of this hotel was the location. It is very distant from any tourist site or location for that matter. I had to take cabs everywhere, and they are very pricey since there is traffic everywhere. It isn`t walking distance from anything, and it isn`t convenient unless your purpose is to spend your entire stay at the hotel. It is beautiful, but I would recommend somewhere closer to the City Center.

"Amazing room, but poor location"

Rate:  4 Stars

Had an excellent stay at the Méridien Etiler. Spacious, well-appointed room with view over the Bosphorus, or should I say a view of the toll plaza of the Bosphorus bridge and with the water in the background?
Perfect bed and aircon, welcoming staff.
On the negative side, this property is situated in a purely residential area. If you do not want to dine at the hotel, you have to take a cab to a street in Etiler with a number of good restaurants.
The isolated location is probably the reason why this hotel charges outlandish prices for the full breakfast buffet. OK, it leaves nothing to be desired for, but more than 30,- EUR is a bit on the outrageous side, so it might be wise to check for a "breakfast included" room rate.
Apart from that, we enjoyed every minute at the Méridien!

"Great staff and nice hotel - out of the way though"

Rate:  5 Stars

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. We had a conference there and so being far away from the city was not a major issue for me (at night, taxis were cheap to take all the way to the city - about a half hour ride). The rooms were nice, the rooftop bar was great, and both the breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner at the hotel were of high quality. However, the best part was the staff. They were just wonderful. I am surprised at some of the negative feedback about the hotel, complaining about the people, because everyone I came across was thoughtful, nice, helpful, remembered me, and were just a pleasure to be around.

Conferences, meetings, conventions - would definitely recommend.
Sightseeing - perhaps too far out of the way.
