"Good place to stay in Istanbul"

    Rate:  5 Stars

Central location in Sultanahmet. Rooms are cleaned. We stayed in the family room in the basement (fits four adults well). Rooms are clean and of reasonable size for four of us. Pleasant, helpful and professional staffs/breakfast on the open-air rooftop terrace, wifi in the room was all a bonus.

Room tip: If you are a family of four, I highly reommend the family room in the basement.. Good value and you...

    "Excellent location and staff"

    Rate:  4 Stars

This little hotel is in an excellent location. There is a car park which is secure and supervised. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is very good and served on a rooftop terrace with lovely views.Despite being in the hub of things the location is quiet at night. Our room and bathroom were very comfortable. The hotel represented good value.

"Excellent place to stay in Istanbul"

We recently had two separate stays at the Hotel Peninsula, both totally enjoyable. Its location is prime, in historic Sultanahmet, within easy walking distance of all the major sites. Also easily accessible to the tram which takes you down to the harbor/ferries. Both rooms we stayed in - 301 and 401 - were quiet, roomy, spotlessly clean and had a bit of a water view. A better view is obtained from the rooftop terrace where breakfast (included) is served each morning. Great showers. Wi-fi okay in room 301, less so in 401 (we were told that the fourth floor router needed to be serviced, but this hadn`t occurred by the time we left). Erhan, at reception, was friendly and helpful. Kept our bags for us between our stays, helped drag our bags up several flights of stairs (no elevator), etc. We would definitely stay here again if our travels once again bring us to Istanbul - and I hope they will!!

Room tip: Rooms 301 and 401 are great - good size, comfortable beds, excellent showers and views (not huge, bu...

    "great location, super nice ppl"

    Rate:  5 Stars

This hotel is in a great location!! 5 min walk to Sultunamet and Hagia Sofia, very walkable to many sights. Located on the sidestreet of a tourist-hotel-oriented area, walking down the street has every restaurant hawking your business. But then again, this seems to be the trend everywhere in Istanbul. The hotel is very clean & the ppl are very friendly. Feels like a family run place.

The breakfast is traditional Turkish style (All you can eat with cold cuts, olives, fresh eggs & huge loaves of warm bread. Fresh juices too) and the breakfast-host is super nice, making you fresh cups of Turkish coffee (must try!) or tea. From the terrace next to the breakfast room, you can see the Hagia Sofia. But it was cold when we went, so we stayed inside the bkft room which has heating.

The front desk guy is very helpful, helping us with our luggage up the steep stairs. Wifi works fine, altho stronger closer to the ground. Our room was cleaned daily and we have no complaints. Our window faces the back of the hotel (better view, see the sea) and we can hear the daily prayers of the mosques which were quite loud but you get used to it. Istanbul itself is a lovely city and staying here made it every convenient. Definitely recommend, considering it`s location and cost.

"Hidden Gem Close to Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia"

    Rate:  5 Stars

The Hotel Peninsula is located in the Sultanahmet area of "old" Istanbul. It is a 6 - 7 minute walk to Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Cistern. The Tram is right there, too. The Grand Bazzare is about a 15 minute walk--no need for taxis.

The hotel is steps off the main drag on a side street, and we stayed in a ground floor room. The room is in the back (no street noise), and was ample size for two adults. Sparkly clean bathroom, and the air conditioning worked well. Comfortable bed, too.

Their roof "terrace" looks over the Bosphorus and is an ideal place to relax after touring with a cold Efes and enjoy the spectacular view. Breakfast was well done--totally Turkish (no American pancakes, etc.!) and delicious. Cold food cold, bread very fresh and warm, etc.

We, too, used the 20 euro pickup (per vehicle, not per person) from Ataturk airport and it was well worth the money after long flights from the USA via Frankfurt.

    Highly recommended.

Room tip: Ground floor (remember that the first floor in European hotels is actually about 10 - 15 feet above...
