Stayed last week during a conference at the Hyatt at Istanbul and it was really a great hotel...Located in the center of the city which is great since there is a lit of traffic in Istanbul...The pool area is amazing, like being in a resort in the center of the city...Rooms are very nice with amazing beds like in all Hyatt hotels...service was also great...I only had breakfast in the hotel which was great...Overall an amazing experience.

"Best location, rooms and on-line services"

My trip to Istanbul couldn`t be completed without mentioning Grand Hyatt Istanbul. The location is great, very near to Taksim the old down town attaction (7 mins walk). Rooms are big with marble bathrooms. When I received my hotel confirmation email, I visited their web site and surprised to find out that I was able to ad my existing Gold Passport number into the reservation moreover I was also able to requets non-elergic pillows and blanket plus shaving kit and dental set and it was provided on the day of arrival. The breakfast was out of this world with varieties staring from all cheeses, meats and big selection of freash fruits.

Room tip: Ask for a room overlooking the main entrance of an old Ottoman military building facing the main ent...

"Nice hotel with a great pool"

My wife and I, and two friends, vacationed in Istanbul for the first time from 8/23/12 to 9/2/12. We typically stay at Starwoods properties but chose the Grand Hyatt for part of our trip because of the outdoor pool (we also stayed at the W Hotel and Swissotel for part of our trip – I wrote separate reviews for those hotels). Our stay at the Grand Hyatt was great. It is a clean, modern hotel with more of a business feel. We stayed in a room on the 7th floor overlooking the pool. Our room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was quite large. The bathrooms have a tub and a separate shower, but the shower is awkwardly small and it was a little difficult for me to move around in (I’m 5’9” about 200lbs.). The room does not insulate noise from the hallway too much (we were right next to the elevator), but overall the floor seemed to be pretty quite.
The location of the hotel was pretty good. The hotel is a 10 min walk to Taksim Square. We live in NYC and Taksim for me has a touristy/Times Square feeling. It is also a place where prices for bottles of water, etc. are a bit more than in other parts of the city. So basically after a couple of times going there, we didn’t really care to hang out there too much. To get to the sights of the old city you can take the Funicular in Taksim to the Tram in Kabatas (about 5-10 min), and then take the Tram to the Old City (another 15-20 min).
The outdoor pool at the hotel is great (better atmosphere, comparable size, and more relaxing than the Swissotel, in my opinion). Also, the food served at the pool was very good and portions were large. Pricing was of course typical of a resort. Service was sporadic though. You often had to just go tell the wait staff you wanted a menu or a drink.
Our first full day we were in Istanbul we took a culinary tour through “Istanbul Eats” which I would highly recommend, as it helps you get a good introduction to the culture and food in Istanbul and it takes you to some of the best, hidden eating spots in the city. One of the places they recommend is Zubeyir Ocakbasi, which is in Taksim and is fantastic. It is arguably the best place we went to in the city for kebabs. Also, if you want wet burgers (which are actually pretty tasty), the place Anthony Bourdain went to eat them (Kizilkayalar) is in Taksim Square too.
Overall I would stay at the Grand Hyatt again. It has a comfortable atmosphere and the outdoor pool is a nice feature after walking around in the hot sun sightseeing all day.

"A quiet Oasis on the edge of Taskin square."

We recently spent a luxurious family holiday at ideally located Grand Hyatt as 2 adults and 2 children at University.

The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee, free bottled water and free wi fi. The bathroms were very high spec with bath and seperate shower.

The rooms were maintained to a high standard with a morning and evening service. We had anticpated upgrading to club class however this was going to cost us another $90 per room each night.

As the hotel breakfasts were expensive we looked elsewhere and found an excellent friendly small street cafe called Brekas opposite a MacDonalds nearby which served delicious pastries and fresh orange juice for around $4 per person!
We all enjoyed the high quality hotel gymnasuim and sauna steam room. The pool is amazing and the staff very welcoming providing you with free towels and ensuring you are set up on your sunbed. They bring you cold water which you can also help yourself to as well. Meals at the pool were very substantial and reasonable, but the drinks were very expensive. The young male waiter Koray was delightful.

Transport around Istambul was easy and inexpensive by taxi. We had no problems with regards overcharging as everything was controlled by meter.

We loved exploring for a restaurant to eat at in the evening. My favourite was a rooftop sea food restaurant overlooking the Blue Mosque which was amazing. A superb holiday with lots of interesting sights to see.

It is located around 7 mins walk from Taksim square. Rooms are large and luxurious. service was excellent. We had booked a package as part of a corporate tour with good rates. the hotel helped us in booking city tours as well.
