    "better than expected!"

    Rate:  5 Stars

I have just came back with my fiancée from Istanbul and we have had a very good experience here. I have been living 5 years in Istanbul as an expat and tried a few hotels in the city as a corporate guest and I know that conrad is considered to lag behind a number of hotels. So, my guess is that it depends what you look for. If you are a couple in search for luxury this may not be your favourite spot: you may well turn to Four Seasons, Les Ottomans and the likes. In my case I was in a position to enjoy corporate rates and related freebies (such as free internet connection in the room) and the hotel provided a very good trade off between quality and price. Since I am an hilton honors member, the reception awarded us free stay/breakfast for my girlfriend, gave us a room on the 14th floor and access to the executive lounge. Of course this may bias my perception a little...so, let me try and balance pros and cons.
Pros: spacious room, clean, quite new and spacious. Spacious bathroom and all of the accessories you may need that are always present in a hilton-chain such as hairdryer, ironing tools an so forth. The bar on the 14th floor has a very nice view on the Bosphorous, well into the Marmara Sea which is definitely a plus in terms of view as compared to more luxurious hotels on the shore and much better than the one of the Hilton in Harbiye or of the Swissotel nearby in my opinion. Breakfast was vey good without being opulent and there was plenty of choice for all tastes. Service attentive and friendly but this is quite a standard in Istanbul. Location is very good as you are within walking distance from Besiktas and its harbor.
Cons: I would say average sport facilities (outside swimming pool smaller than swissotel for example). I would expect slightly more from the Executive Lounge. So, if it is not given as an award I would not spend my money on it.
All in all, I may consider going back there among the different hotels I have been in Istanbul, which was not on my mind before going there. I have to say it exceeded my expectations

"Very good hotel. Great view from executive lounge."

    Rate:  4 Stars

Stayed here for 2 days with family who had checked in a day before I arrived. Had executive lounge access which was a nice plus. Lounge has excellent views and is worth a look if you have access. Room was OK. Nothing great, nothing bad. I would probably stay here again if I got a good rate, but would look at other options if it was very expensive.

Room tip: Higher floors have better views.

"Really good hotel, but could be great"

I recently stayed at the Conrad in Istanbul. The good stuff: the 14th and 15th floor bar/restaurant/lounge areas are great and the view is unbeatable. The 15th floor is reserved for Hilton Club members (Gold status only). The 14th floor restaurant has the same great view and a pretty good menu. Service throughout the hotel is very good - the concierge is very helpful, the front desk and bell staff are very pleasant and speak very good English.

The not-so-good stuff: the hotel is in a central location, but not really close to anything you can walk to - everything is a cab ride and the traffic in the city is a nightmare. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation, and it needs it. The rooms are a good size but pretty tired, so they need to be updated - be careful when you book to make sure you get a Bosporus-view room - lots of rooms have this view, but far fewer have a view that is completely unobstructed (my friend`s room had a much better view than my room). We used the hotel-provided car service to get to/from the airport. The cars are great (7-series BMWs) - but the fee of 400+ Turkish Lira is crazy for a one-hour or less drive.

Recommend it? Yes. Stay there again? Maybe. Might be worth the wait until the construction is fully done.

Room tip: Be very specific when you ask for a Bosporus-view. My room had a view, but only if I looked out the...

"Stayed for four nights with kids"

    Rate:  5 Stars

The Conrad is an excellent hotel and we really enjoyed ourselves. The hotel was clean, rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Service was spectacular throughout. We didn`t get a Bosphorous view room, but still looked over a park. The breakfast is really top notch with pretty much everything you could want. We swam indoors and outdoors. It was getting a little too cold for outdoors, but the pools are fine.

The location is the one down side as a tourist as it is not on the tram line and not close to Old Town, but actually is not that bad. It is in a bustling section of town that has quite a bit of local cafes and shops within a few blocks walk of the hotel. It is also a 10 minute walk to the Besikitas ferry stop which can take you to Asia side or to town. It is also walking distance (20min) or a short bus or taxi to Dolambache Palace.

The views from the top level bars are spectacular, probably some of the nicest around. The 15th floor is Executive Club only, but is definitely worth the upgrade if its available to you.

Room tip: Bosphorus side is obviously ideal, but facing the other way is not bad. The area is quiet at night a...

    "Brilliant hotel:-)"

    Rate:  5 Stars

Just got back after 4 nights in Istanbul. The Conrad was absolutely brilliant right from the start of our trip. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. A very clean hotel, with excellent food and close to the tourist attractions (not walking distance, but a short taxi ride or a bus ride). The staff were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction and even arranged for the tour bus to pick us up from the main road. The rooms were large and we had an excellent view of the Bosphorus. The beds were really comfortable. There are also 2 swimming pools, one outside and one inside. Had a wonderful trip to Istanbul and the Conrad made it that bit more special. Thank you.

Room tip: We had room on 14th floor, which was excellent.
