"Stay here"

Rate:  5 Stars

You`d be a fool not to. I can`t even begin to tell you how grateful we were to have found this hotel. After staying in various hotels/ hostels through out Turkey, Basileus was the most organized, professional and hospitable. Any questions we had via email was answered with such courtesy, understanding and flexibility before we even reached the hotel. It can`t be easy doing the job they do with all the last minute change of plans and being bombarded with tourist`s questions everyday. Couple that with warm hospitality and it is what makes this place is a true gem. This hotel was the last stop on our journey through Turkey and they certainly made it hard to leave. It was as if we were staying with family. They even personally drove us to the airport at 11 pm! Sure we can nit pick about the noise on the 1st floor or the breakfast (which is free and serves omelets made to order) but the squeaky clean rooms, comfortable beds, warm decor and outstanding service trumps all. Trust me, when you`re a tourist in istanbul, you`ll be glad you`re staying at Basileus as they are the best start to your day and welcome back home at the end of it.

"Even better than expected"

Rate:  5 Stars

I visited Istanbul with my husband and 2 friends, we chose to stay at the Basileus because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Our rooms were on the ground floor, not much of a view out of windows as they were at the back of the hotel, but they were quiet, clean and free minibar for soft drinks. The staff were absolutely brilliant, friendly, helpful , nothing was too much trouble.
It was a short walk to the attractions, it was uphill but not too arduous to the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia, a little further to walk to the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market but still very doable
I will be recommending Istanbul and in particular The Basileus to all my friends

Thank you for a wonderful stay

"Very clean and comfortable, gracious service and womderful for first time travellers"

I chose this hotel for the reviews, over other hotels which appeared more grand with views. I wanted a place which cared about its guests and who would be able to assit us if needed. We were first time visitors to Istanbul. The family and staff here could not have been more kind or helpful, and met this expectation in every way, with grace and humour. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are clean and housekeeping staff are helpful. Breakfast was both generous and delicious and the wating staff wonderful. A delightful place to stay, which I felt was a good introduction to the generoisty of Turkish culture.

Room tip: We had a room on the street but as we slept with the a/c on and the windows are double galzed the st...

"3 star at best"

The redeeming qualities of this hotel are its incredibly helpful staff and its location close to all of the historic areas of Istanbul. Would suggest that if you take the free one way airport shuttle to the hotel (that they offer), as its quite challenging to find if you take a cab or the metro. On your way out you can stop by a shop on the street the hotel is located on and pay 5TL for a shuttle to the airport. Would recommend like others have that you avoid the rooms on the lower floors as their is a lot of noise at night from the lobby with people coming and going. We had an issue with our room and were moved after our 2nd complaint to a room on the 3rd floor as well as given a discount for our inconvenience which was much appreciated. They offer breakfast in the basement, we found the yogurt salty, as were the omelettes as well as oily.

"exactly what we needed"

Rate:  5 Stars

This hotel was in the perfect location (behind Blue Mosque), super clean and newly renovated, close to tram and and all major attractions. The staff never got tired of helping us and was always there...24/7! Loved it, highly recommend them. Oh and breakfast was a delicious Turkish buffet!

Room tip: It`s in the city...so if you are not used to city noise, you may struggle, but I had no problem.
