"Nice Hotel Better Location"

Rate:  4 Stars

We arrived in the beautiful Istanbul Ataturk Airport and were greeted by the shuttle service who was hired by Artefes to transport us to the hotel which we arranged through Artefes. The area of Sultanahmet, which is the `old` part of Istanbul, is where the Artefes Hotel is located. The hotel, like the rest of Sultanahmet, has an Ottoman empire feel to it and we felt transported back in time when we arrived.
The hotel is covered in wood which gives it a wonderful charm that makes it stand out from the rest of the surrounding buildings. The lobby is beautiful, clean, and continues the Ottoman look that is constant throughout the hotel.
Once you arrive be prepared to get the `Turkish sales pitch` which we were not ready for. Due to all the `cruisers` the hotels seem to think tourists want to do the most cliche thing they can think of and after we got checked in they proceeded to try and sell us on dinner cruises, belly dancing, and all day tours. Which for some people that would be great, but we were there to experience the culture, not a planned travel agency itinerary. Do not get me wrong the staff is excellent, they are always there to help and enjoy doing so.
The room was average European size and as charming as the hotel. The bathroom was small but very clean and very nice. The main attraction of the hotel has to be the terrace which allows you to see the panoramic view of Istanbul and the Marmara Sea. Breakfast is also held here which gives you a typical European meat and cheese breakfast, but Artefes does it well.
Finally, we did the Hamam that is offered by the hotel and it is located in the basement with the workout equipment and, at first glance, may look shoty but don`t let it fool you. They have all the traditional elements of a Turkish Hamam, heated marble, sauna, steam, and a strong Turkish woman ready to wash you like you have never been washed before. When you are done, you have the option to get a hot oil massage by her husband who is equally as strong and will get out any knot you have, which was much needed after all the traveling.
We would stay here again and recommend to anyone looking to stay in a nice classic hotel in Sultanahmet.

"Excellent Location"

Rate:  4 Stars

I chose this hotel based on previous reviews and i found exactly what i was looking for: a confortable hotel build and furbished in otoman style placed right in the heart of Sultanahmet (old city area). We stayed 4 days in Istanbul and it was so handy to be able to reach the main visitor attractions in just a couple of minutes by foot!
Rooms a little bit small but tidy . The hotel staff was friendly, even though the guy from the reception was very pushy to book some city tours from the hotel, which were a lot more expensive than the ones available everywhere in the city centre.
Lovely roof terrace, excellent location with Bosphorus and Marmara Sea view. We found it quite enjoying to spend our coffee moments in the morning there.

The breakfast was however very poor, a dissapointment!

Nice rooms, nice staff, excellent terrace view in both directions (Blue Mosque and Sea of Marmara) - have been to Istanbul 4X, this is where I will always stay from now on. Breakfast was great. A very relaxing time.

"Wonderful"

Rate:  4 Stars

Shuttle from the airport (very usefull in 1:30 am).
Great location (one can reach on foot nearly every attraction in the old city within half an hour).
Nice staff (reception gentlemen were ready to help round the clock, room was perfectly cleaned, very kind lady in buffet). Cheers to Kenan Akchay and Martin TAS.
Just rooms get one point off (those which with the windows to the yard are very dark. And bathrooms ceilings are to be repaired, very ugly ones, not very critical in fact).

"Great base for seeing and exploring Istanbul"

Rate:  5 Stars

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect if you`re looking for views of the old city --the terrace provides a great view of the Blue Mosque on one side and the Bosphorous on the other) and access to the Sultanahmet. The rooms are fine - -especially the top floor suite where our children stayed. Things were clean and staff efficient, if not particularly outgoing. Functional breakfast, with a variety of options. Parking worked out well too.
