"historical hotel in romantic surroundings"

Rate:  4 Stars

we travel to hydra and nearby islands for a weekend quite often, as it`s so close to the piraeus port and only an hour or so travel time, and we have learned this island quite well. we have stayed in several hotels near the harbour, and the phaedra hotel is one of the remarkable ones, as it was converted to hotel from an old carpets factory, and we love historical places! we found it easily, as we know the island, but for those who come for the first time it might be a bit of adventure. our room had high ceiling and was quite large, with all the necessary amenities, including robes. that was quite a good choice for a short weekend escape.

"Probably the best option in Hydra? "

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed two nights at Phaedra, and it was even better than expected! Hilda is the most gracious and welcoming host, and she serves the most delicious breakfast on the beautiful terrace. She took good care of us when we fell asleep in our room after a long journey and forgot to close the window.. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, and very nice furnished. We will highly recommend this great hotel - and are already looking forward to our next stay at Phaedra :)

"Lovely Phaedra"

Rate:  5 Stars

A beautiful soft sunny Hydra and a superbe boutique hotel Phaedra : this combination made our short stay there an unforgettable and very relaxing experience.

Phaedra Hotel is close to the port of Hydra in an absolutely calm environment. The rooms are spaceous offering a very relaxing atmoshere, the breakfast is rich with a fine greek taste and the terrace for breakfast is an absolute delight.

The owner of the hotel is always there for you kindly assisting you for any querries and making you feel at home.

Room tip: Rooms on the first floor are just excellent.

"Hydra`s Phaedra Hotel Is Wonderful "

Rate:  5 Stars

I just returned from my yearly trip to Greece and I am not exaggerating when I say that the highlight of my vacations are my annual visits to Hydra and the Phaedra. I would never consider staying at any other hotel on the island. In addition to the wonderfully accessible location, the beautifully appointed rooms and delicious breakfast, I can say unequivocally, that the very special part of my visit is seeing Hilda, the delightful host and owner of the Phaedra. Hilda enjoys what she does and goes above and beyond what you would normally expect, to make your stay on Hydra very, very special.
I have recommended the Phaedra to all my personal friends and to my TripAdvisor friends as well. You will love it too.

"Good- but less than it claims to be. "

Rate:  3 Stars

Phaedra presents itself as an a`class accommodation and it does deliver to this standard in some respects but lacks in others.

On the plus side, the room we stayed in was spacious with furniture of a good standard, a large wardrobe, comfortable mattress, a kitchenette, a balcony and a good-sized bathroom with shower cabinet- cleanliness was fine and it was also centrally located which is very convenient for strolling.

On the minus side:
a. breakfast of average quality , preselected by the staff.
b. plastic bins in bathroom.
c.no crockery/ cutlery to cook- I suppose if I asked they would provide us with it but isn`t this causing incovenience?
d.no tent for the balcony. I understand there are restrictions by the local authorities as well as Unesco but I saw at least 4 tents in other establishments in the vicinity.
e. the owner will offer tips about the island only if you ask her and even at that moment she only replies to questions ie.we just asked if the places we aimed to visit were indeed worth it - no proactiveness. This is in sharp contrast to other a`class studios I have stayed.
f. no hotel facilities= 24h front desk, pool, gym. I knew that and it does not bug me because I would not benefit from them but if you do not have these , I guess you qualify as a B&B and not a hotel.

All in all, it is a decent staying option, better than "rooms to let" but there is room for improvement and this holds true not only in absolute terms for the hotel per se but also with relevance to the rate per night ie. had it been slightly cheaper I would have been less picky- an above average rate should justify above average accommodation and services.

"A memory making weekend"

Rate:  5 Stars

Absolutely fantastic experience with Hilda, our beautiful and gracious hostess for our weekend! She anticipated our every need, and her suggestions were spot on as to where to go, what to do, and what to see-- especially her suggestions for a romantic place to have a glass of wine and watch an unforgettable sunset, as well as where to go for a quiet swim together in the Aegean. The room was very comfortable with more than ample room for our things. The breakfast on the upper terrace was excellent. The location of the hotel--the picturesque area around it-- along with its history was amazing. Hilda literally takes care of everything one could possibly want or need. We both agree that this trip was one of our absolute best, and The Phaedra Hotel on Hydra played an enormous role in making wonderful memories of our time there. You will not regret staying at the Phaedra. We look forward to our return to this special place. PEvans

"A wonderful weekend at Phaedra"

Rate:  5 Stars

Phaedra is a small and very nice, hotel in Hydra, only a short walk from the port and the ferry from Pireus. Hilda took so good care of us and gave advice to were to eat, have a drink at sunset and were to go swimming. The breakfast on the roof-terrace was simple, but good and the atmosphere was great. When there was some trouble with the ferry, Hilda administrated everything for us, so we felt very relaxed and surtain that we anyway would be able to reach our return flight, because she would fix the transport. We look foreward to returning to Hydra and Phaedra.

The best place to stay in Hydra. A wonderful restored traditional building. Absolute tranquillity, charming rooms with aircondition. Pure hospitality. Delightful breakfasts, with a little oriental touch. Ideal for long weekends one step away from Athens. Highly recommended...
