"excellent"

Rate:  5 Stars

100E/night - beautiful room with a great view (although the bathroom was slightly smelly, probably because of the heat and the AC was blowing directly on the bed which may be problematic), nice and big breakfast, bottle of water upon arrival, small beer is 3E at the hotel, wifi is working in the lobby, garden and corridors, not in the rooms. Easy 5 min. walk from the port, close to a wonderful restaurant Christina`s - be sure to go there.

"Traditional Greek hospitality combined with top-quality modern service"

Rate:  5 Stars

Beautiful old building, clean rooms, excellent breakfast, pleasant atmosphere, very quiet area, 3 min walk from harbour!

Extra points:
- owners will go out of their way to help you and make sure you feel great
- good quality air conditioning in rooms
- home-made jams and other delicacies

If you are not Greek and you want to see what Greek hospitality is about, stay at Mistral.

"Absolutely perfect"

Rate:  5 Stars

Hydra is a wonderful island not for from Piaeus but staying at the Mistral makes it perfect.
It`s Greek hospitality at its best. The breakfast in the morning in the garden under the pergola is outstanding and whenever you think you have eaten everything you will get another delicatesse and better starting your diet after your holidays. We stayed 6 days and every morning the breakfast was different. The location in Hydra town is very close to everything and roof terrace overlooks the town and the hills around the town. The rooms are nicely decorated, and the bathroom small but everything works. Nice and friendly stuff, very helpfull with tips for dinner locations.

"Amazing breakfasts and very helpful people "

My wife and I flew straight to Athens from the US, took a Flying Dolphin hydrofoil from Piraeus and landed in Hydra. Hotel Mistral is in a relatively quiet part of town but still easy to reach while rolling suitcases from the port. It is about 8 or 10 blocks slightly uphill. There are clear signs most of the way.

The rooms are great. We did not have a great view but not a bad one either--the whole town is picturesque. The only improvement I can think of would have been a balcony. The breakfasts were incredibly elaborate--many courses, different each day. Here`s a sampling: a glass of spinach soup, a ham and cheese torte, hard boiled eggs, toast, butter, and jam, cherries, olives, an omlette--more than one can eat in an hour, and delicious. My only complaint is that it was hard to leave the place before 9AM because my wife wouldn`t think of missing the breakfast which started at 8, I think

The hosts were Canadian/Greek and spoke both languages fluently. They were able to draw us maps so that we could reach the hiking trails for the monasteries, and lent us a sun hat and a AC power converter for the duration of our stay. They clearly cared very much about us and about Hydra.

FYI: The morning and afternoon church bells are loud, but I don`t think there is a place on Hydra where you can avoid them. When we were high up overlooking Hydra about 5 kilometers away we could hear the church bells loud and clear. Room tip: Our rooms overlooked the patio where breakfasts were served and people hung out in the afternoons an...

"Definately stay again!"

Rate:  5 Stars

Only booked for 4 nights at Mistral but ended up staying for 10! Jenny and Theo were excellent hosts with good tips for restaurants and beaches. The breakfast was different every morning. A variation of omlettes, fruit, cereal, jelly, mousse and crepes which set us up for the rest of the day with only a small snack in the afternoon before dinner. I would stay here again if we get to visit the island in the future. The island itself is beautiful, very relaxing and friendly service throughout. Do check out all the photos online of the magical place that is hydra...I miss it already.

"Will definitely return!"

Rate:  5 Stars

We`ve just returned from Hydra and stayed the week at Hotel Mistral. Jenny and Theo were most welcoming and we definitely couldn`t ask for more. Excellent location (just far enough from the main drag to ensure a wonderful sleep), our room was immaculate and the view wasn`t too bad either! Air conditioning a big plus! Breakfasts were varied and very large and the courtyard was a beautiful wee spot to start the day, there`s also wifi (for those people that must stay connected). Hydra is a beautiful island and I can`t recommend it and the Mistral enough. All the staff were very friendly (especially to us English speakers). Being an island completely car free is big plus and something that really takes it up another level for those wanting a relaxing holiday. The beaches are gorgeous, the weather fantastic and the Mistral a perfect retreat. By the end of it all we really didn`t want to leave. Thank you!
