    "Great Hotel, worth visiting! "

    Rate:  5 Stars

I stayed at Negroponte Resort having booked it with a great offer that included breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I also had the chance to try the cuisine.
All buffets were very good, with a big variety of food options to choose and very good quality, so it is worthy to choose half of even full board.
The room that I stayed(double deluxe) was spacious and its condition was new-like. Everything was well-maintained and clean and the pool/sea view just great!
I didn`t have the chance to use the indoor pool, but I had the chance to use the indoor and the outside playground with my daughter. Furthermore, during summertime, the indoor playground offers special events for the kids.
One negative thing is that the location of the hotel is quite far from Eretria(around 5km) and about 15 minutes drive from Chalkida, so in case you want to go out, you need transport.
City of Athens is only about 1 hour away with a car, so you can easily do your sightseeing.
Generally Negroponte Resort can be a great choice for spending some time in Greece and close to Athens.

Room tip: See view rooms offer great pool/sea view. It`s really relaxing to have a drink on the balcony

"A fairly good option but possibly somewhat overpriced"

    Rate:  3 Stars

We stayed in Negroponte for one night in August as a `last resort` solution while stuck in Evia. The staff were welcoming and the place was well-kept, but having stayed in many, many similar hotels in Greece and elsewhere in the world, I can say with confidence that this is not a 4 or 5 (!) star hotel.
We were given the option of a garden-room double for 110 Euros or pool view double for 140 Euros, including breakfast. We opted for the garden room and were ever so grateful we did so, as I can`t see how anyone would get any sleep with the noise from the pool during daytime or the piano singing in the night-time -- the rooms are literally built at its edge.
Having said that, the room was clean and reasonably comfortable, with everything it promised to have, even though it was quite small. Again, I would have expected a bathroom mat for stepping out of the shower, but perhaps I am too picky!
Breakfast was good, with quite a lot of choice, but nothing to write home about. At around 10am, most platters were empty, while the dining room was full, and a few of the guests were complaining. To be fair, everything was refilled, but - again - I would have thought that the food would be regularly replenished so as to avoid shortages and queues.
The pool was refreshing and well-kept, with free umbrellas and sun loungers for guests. As expected, it was full of families with young children and thus quite noisy - the racket ball playing did not help. The beach is right at the edge with easy access but nothing spectacular (very small width, rather shallow water, stones).
Overall, it was an ok solution during the busy month of August when we couldn`t find another room at short notice in a hotel with a pool, as Eretria`s seaside is not the best, but I wouldn`t rush to go back, as I felt that 110 Euros was a tad overpriced for pretty basic - yet perfectly acceptable - accommodation and fairly average breakfast. Having said that, I`m guessing it would be a much better option for a family with small children, as it provides all the amenities anyone would need (including a snack bar, tv room, restaurant, mini market, etc) without, however, being anything special.

"Excellent family vacation close to Athens!"

    Rate:  5 Stars

We visited the hotel with two young children for a week in August. The fact that it`s a family owned hotel it`s their secret of success. The young owner is always there and supervises everything! Staff are well trained and helpful, waiters are overcoming themselves and the whole hotel is spotless.
Swimming pool has sea water and this big enough for swimming and playing of young children.
Breakfast and dinner (we had booked HB) were more than excellent!!! Big variety and all super fresh!! Homemade bread, croissant and fresh baked meals, offering every day a new experience!!
Hotel also offers children day care next to the pool, which is really convenient for parents and children.
If you love the sea it`s not the ideal site since the beach is not really good there, but nice beaches are close (by car).
Definitely a choice for Evia island!!

Room tip: Ask for a room in building B, sea view and preferably in second floor, for privacy in balcony

"Best choice in Greece. The most attentive stuff I ever met in th country, real 5star"

    Rate:  5 Stars

Was very surprised during the week spent there. The hotel belongs to a greek family, owners of several more places in greece. The youngest studied hotel management abroad and now started making the new place - Negroponte - with all experience the`ve got. Every morning they choose all ingredients for the restorant by themselves on the market. Perfectly cleaned rooms, silence, calmness and carefullness all day long. Ready to help you in any situation any moment. The price is more than reasonable, believe me. And the island itself is adorable, very "greek". Best balance i`ve ever met, thank you million times!!!!!

"Great position , great hotel (not quite 5 star)"

    Rate:  5 Stars

We visited Negroponte end July for two nights 2012. Lovely clean fresh (reasonable new) hotel. It is on the beach with pool and beach within 10 metres of each other - great location. It was very quiet - lots of sun loungers to choose from - likely due to the drop in tourist numbers. It is a very good 4* hotel but not quite a 5* . Reasonable pool drinks prices. All in all worth it`s 4.5 rating on trip adviser !

    "Great hotel! "

    Rate:  5 Stars

i spent a week here in late July with my family. The hotel is a great place to relax. On the plus side: cleanliness is impeccable, staff very friendly (and as far as i could tell from overhearing conversations fluent in at least English (I speak Greek)), facilities are very generous (two pools, beach, gym, restaurant, pool bar), food is excellent and the hotel is about an hour away from Athens (on decent road especially by Greece`s standards). The only downside I can see is that the beach is not the largest and I can del imagine it being somewhat crowded during peak season in August - it certainly didn`t affect me (hence the 5*) but bear in mind if going for a weekend in the middle of August... Overall, highly recommended, a very pleasant surprise and would be certainly considering it for holidays in the future.

"One of the very best in Greece"

    Rate:  5 Stars

This is a very well run hotel that manages to cater for families, older folk and business conferences flawlessly. The staff are helpfull and friendly. From the guy that took our cases, we really felt we were honoured friends rather than just paying customers.

The buffet breakfasts are amongst the best I have had in Greece and should satisfy all tastes. The dinner buffet was good value and choice. If you prefer dining out, Eretria sea front is full of excellent tavernas and only 5 minutes drive.

The rooms are reasonable size, clean and pleasant. The salt water pool is great for the kids. The hotel location is central for sightseeing and Evia is an amazing island with spectacular mountains, wild areas and excellent sandy beaches to the south.

The hotel beach is not the best but don`t let that put you off if you want a central hotel for touring Evia. Try a drive to Marmari and the beaches just south.

Room tip: Our room at the back had average views but was very quiet. I would choose the back again - but a sea...
