"#1 for a reason!"

Rate:  5 Stars

This was my second stay at the Hotel Pitho. The rooms are simple but very clean and sleepable. Somehow on my first trip I missed the little balcony on the third floor with a small rose garden and view over the gulf--it was a great discovery. The real reason this hotel is so great, though, are the owners. George and Vicki are fantastic. We had some flight delays and a late arrival into Delphi; we called ahead and George was very gracious about waiting up for us. We were with teenagers who LOVED George ("What would George do?" become the motto for the rest of the trip, and while at an extensive breakfast buffet at a four star hotel later in the trip one of the kids wailed, "I miss George`s breakfasts!"); he has children of his own and used to be a secondary teacher so he relates to them very well. He also went out of his way to help us on several occasions with special needs. As you can tell from the previous comments, his breakfasts are great (fresh bread every morning from the bakery down the street and great coffee--yum!). There are not enough things I can say about his hospitality and would definitely stay here again!

"Very welcoming"

Rate:  5 Stars

We spent two nights in Delphi, staying in adjoining rooms at the Pitho Rooms. George and Vicky were very welcoming. Everything was great - from George`s helpful hints, the spotlessly clean rooms, the lovely breakfast and the great location. George even helped us with a minor emergency - we had left our son`s (expensive ) dental plate back at our hotel in Olympus. George phoned the hotel (Elena`s Guesthouse) and we arranged to have the plate AND a pair shoes mailed to pension Stella in Santorini. There was great relief to find that the plate and shoes arrived safely in Santorini ( big thanks Elena!)

"Great place to see Delphi!"

Rate:  5 Stars

George and Vicky`s lovely hotel could not have been a better place for seeing beautiful Delphi and the Temple of Apollo. Pitho Hotel`s location is great, right in the center of town, close to the ancient sites. There are lots of restaurants and shops on the main street, and an ATM just outside the hotel door.
George helped with my bags and was extremely helpful and welcoming. He seemed to know I was on my way up the street from the bus and burst into the street to greet me with, "You found us!". Though I was a single traveller and booked a single room, I was given a beautiful room with a large bed as well as a couch, with lots of homey touches and a balcony overlooking the main street. The hotel was busy but very calm and quiet for resting. Every time I headed back to the hotel to take a break from sightseeing, George or Vicky asked how everything was. They genuinely cared about making sure their guests experienced the best of Delphi and were comfortable in the hotel.

Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with black cherry preserves from George`s family`s trees and plenty of fantastic coffee, homemade bread, and lots of other delights (of course, including delicious yogurt!). I ate dinner both nights in the restaurant directly across the street, because it had great food, great service, and a beautiful view. There are lots of options closeby, though.

You really have a sense that George and Vicky see their hotel as a home, and they welcome you in it. It`s clear they love their work. This hotel is fantastic. When I tried to book through booking.com, it said all the rooms were full...but when I contacted George via email, he did have availability. So, be persistent! It`s worth it for such a great, affordable place to stay in Delphi!

"Delphi treasure"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed 3 nights with George and Vicki in late July 2012.The lovely room was quiet and very clean with a little balcony. Breakfast was excellent and taken in a nice sun drenched room. Dinner suggestions were perfect for us.The hotel is wonderfully located just a 10 minute walk to the site.

Room tip: Room on the third floor at the back was perfect.

"Highly recommend! "

Rate:  5 Stars

George and Vicky are extremely gracious hosts! The room was modern and clean with a great balcony overlooking the street. Breakfast included a wide variety of options and great conversation. They own a charming, little store on the first floor and while I was deciding which pottery to purchase, George regaled us with stories and history lessons about the different pieces. Everything is within walking distance including great restaurants with exceptional views!

"Excellent stay"

Rate:  5 Stars

This is a very small hotel. The owner, George, is very personable, insists on carrying bags up (compensating for no elevator). The location is spectacular, and in easy walking distance from the Ancient Delphi ruins.

Breakfast was special, different from typical hotel continental breakfasts, with hot fresh-baked bread typical of homes not establishments, wonderful local cherry preserves, etc. George`s recommendations for dinner were wonderful: I had excellent wild boar.

The experience here, combined with the spectacular setting and the outstanding ruins, makes me want to come back here again.
