"excellent hôtel"Rate:  5 Stars
nous venons de séjourner dans ce petit hôtel charmant pour deux nuits en juin 2012;

L`estetica è come nelle foto, floreale, accogliente, fresca.

"Delightful family run hotel"Rate:  4 Stars
Staying at this hotel was a charming joy. Went there because it seemed to be the only hotel in Palekastro (there are actually two others but don`t seem to have an internet presence) and wasn`t disappointed. The centrally located hotel, is dominated by a huge and fragrant Bouganvillia plant which provides a lovely shady breakfasting area at the front of the hotel. This went nicely with the wood fixtures helping to give the building a rustic air.
The welcome was exceedingly warm and the owners went out of their way to be helpful and accomodating. They didn`t mind when a friend and her 15 month old came over for breakfast and were happy to give her a free coffee and cake. The breakfasts are lovely actually. Brought on a tray you get yummy fresh bread, cheese and ham as well as whatever fruit they have around as well as a cake from the local bakery.- also sometimes boiled eggs. Filter made coffee was very good.
As far as the facilities go, there was a good free broadband connection and although quite basic, bathrooms and everywhere else was very clean. The little balcony with table and chairs was a bonus as it gave a bit more space to the quite small room. The bed was a bit on the hard side and the water took a while to come out warm but these were very small issues and would definitely return again. The rooms were very good value - working out at 45 euros per night for two with breakfast. We had a slightly more expensive room as the only double beds are in the rooms for three people.
I should probably say something about Palekastro itself. It`s quite unspoilt probably because it isn`t directly on the sea which gives it a non touristy feel. The restaurants round about are very good and reasonable in price. The nearest beach is about a 20 minute walk away. Quite basic but fine for swimming. There are also three tavernas there if you need food or drink. The one on the road to the beach has an outside barbeque which produces delicious fresh grilled fish. If you`ve got a car the next beach along (vai) has sunbeds and shades for rent and is a little more sophisticated. All in all a lovely holiday area if you just want to relax, eat good food and discover Greek friendlyness and culture.
Room tip: Only double beds to be found in three person room, although some of the two person rooms have nice v...
