"great value, service, weather"Rate:  5 Stars
Had a fabulous stay at Amalia in early June. Clean, spacious apartments, cleaned daily. Enough basic kitchen gear to rustle up a meal but eating out is so cheap that we only used the kitchen for breakfast and snacks. Good pool, plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Nice bar always staffed by the friendly, helpful owners. Bali is a nice relaxed little town. Money was a problem - the only cash machine in town doesn`t accept card with chip and pin or maestro.....We eventually found a local supermarket that did cash back for a 1% charge - the first one on the right heading away from town from the Amalia, the owner is there in the afternoon and he will do cash back. All the local tavernas and restaurants we went to accepted cards. A good range of beaches, we preferred the town beach, especially over looking it, sitting in taverna Akrogiali. Taverna Nest is another great place in the town, just off the beach,up a little side street. Great terrace, family business, entertaining staff and very good food.
Not a place to go if you are looking for a party every night, nightclubs or shopping extravaganzas. Great place if you want a chilled atmosphere, great local food and friendly locals

"Never Fails"Rate:  5 Stars
We have been coming to these apartments since 2007, and once again they have not failed, we are always made very welcome and they cannot do enough for you, we had a lovely time and a BIG thank you to Adonis & Nicki, Manolis & Dina, and our love to Nikos and Amalia.
For us the apartments are spacious, clean and offer really good comfortable accommodation, along with being situated close enough to the beach and taverna`s if you don`t want to go very far, or you can have a leisurely walk down to the Port, where there is a lot more shops and Taverna`s and of course call in at the Bakery for an Ice cream on the way back. We ate at Galini Taverna and the food was exceptional, never had one bad meal great value for money, and run by a lovely family.
We shall be back and see you next year, Thank You XXXXX
Room tip: All of the rooms are spacious and clean I have no preference

"Lovely friendly place"Rate:  4 Stars
The apartments are spacious and clean with large a large balcony.
Bathroom is big but the shower is not wall mounted. We got a coat hanger and attached it to the hand rail and it was fine!
Decor basic but all you need self catering.
Air conditioning is 6 euros a night - in June not a necessity but I would think you would need it high summer.
TV not in room but can be hired -- not sure of the price
Pool area lovely and clean we didn`t have any problem getting a sunbed but people did tend to `towel` the ones furthest from the rooms as the sun lasted ther until early evening!
The owners are lovely, very helpful and friendly. Much of `grandfather`s Raki` was given out throughout our visit. Careful, it is very strong!!!
The atmosphere here is great and very relaxing as is the whole resort. Quite a lot of hills to negotiate so be warned.
Only one cashpoint in Bali which was not working for the week we were there. There is a place to change money so take Euros or GBP to change.
We would definitely go again - great value for money, great weather andlovely people. Try Galini`s restaurant for a lovely home cooked meal
Overall I would say the apartment are probably 3* but the experience and people make it worth 4*. Many returning visitors when we were ther and I think we will be joining them!

"Amalia Studios & Apartments, Bali, Crete"Rate:  5 Stars
We just had a lovely stay at The Beautiful Amalia Studios & Apartments, Bali, Crete.
Bali village is one of the loveliest and easiest places to find in Crete. Well it`s east just 58 mins along the highway from Heraklion airport isn`t it? So you may find it hard to believe that having been to Bali at least 4 times before, we managed to get lost in our hire car less than 1 mile from the airport and nearly ended our holiday as goat herders in the upper pastures in the moutains. Don`t worry though you`ll be alright. You`re not married to Gertrude Bell or Sterling Moss.
The hotel is situated on a hill, as everything is in Bali, and is a short stroll to all the local beaches and amenities, bars and restaurants. It is run by Adonis and Nicki, Manolis & Dina. They are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them.
When we finally arrived late after midnight we were very pleased to see that Adonis was still waiting for us.
Apologies were made to him and he put us straight into a poolside apartment (after he gave us a couple of his homemade rakis - his grandfather`s recipe). We had only paid for a studio and Adonis explained that he would have to move us in a couple of days. So in the meantime we had enough room you could have swung a Cretan cat. (No we didn`t!).
When finally we did move to a studio, we found that it was furnished equally as pleasantly as the apartment that we had just left. Maybe even a tad better?
We love Bali and would highly recommend this Hotel to anybody who wished to have a lovely relaxing holiday in Crete, but check the topography before you go if you`re a bit disabled.

"Fantastic Stay!"Rate:  5 Stars
We just spent two weeks at Amalia Apartments and it was perfect! We are a family of five (2 adults, 3 kids 10, 8, 6). Our apartment was furnished simply and just right. We always do self catering and were able to cook at least one meal a day along with breakfast in the apartment. The location is ideal as it`s halfway into the village, has a close access to the best beach (the one that Mambo Cocktail Bar overlooks) and is only a 10 minute walk to the many tavernas (and only ATM/Cashpoint) around the little harbor.
Our apartment was cleaned and sheets & towels changed every three days. The pool was always clean and the kids really loved it. This was our first time in Crete and we loved Bali because its ideal for families with small children and couples desiring a quiet, relaxing retreat. There are no dance clubs or loud bars around with their customery boozing clients. The beaches are ideal for small children as they are crystal clear, sandy, very shallow, and no topless girls.
Last but not least, the owners: Antonis and his wife Nikki. Manolis and his wife . Everyone was generous, nice and very hospitable. Antonis even invited us to his daughter Amalia`s 2nd birthday party which was a family affair with loads of great food and company. For people who bad mouth Greece and Greeks, I have only great things to say about the beautiful Greek people and their jewel of a country. We had absolutely ZERO problems (except for how some of the younger guys drive, like in any country) and would like to retire in Greece someday.
Antonis, thank you again for such a wonderful stay.
Jimmy, Lucia and the kids.....
Room tip: Rooms not facing the pool area are quieter.

"Like staying with friends"Rate:  5 Stars
On arrival at the Amalia we were given a really good welcome. Our 1 bed apartment was very spacious, comfortable and clean. The owners Adoni and Nikki and their family couldn`t do enough for you and they are extremely friendly. Only a five minute walk from a nice sandy beach with a couple of nice bars and restaurants alongside it with lots more restaurants etc down by the port about 15 minutes walk away. We would advise hiring a car for getting around the island if you`re not the lounging by the pool/beach type. Apparently there used to be a handy little train that transported people around the local area but it had stopped running by the time we visited.
All in all we had a great time and will return for more "Raki time!". Yammas!
Room tip: No real difference between rooms.

"Again a fabulous time"Rate:  5 Stars
We returned again to the Amalia studios and were not dissappointed. We received the same warm welcome by everyone and had a fabulous 2 weeks with very hot weather. The owners Nicki and Adonis and the maid were most helpful and pleasant and we wish them well with the new addition to the family. The ATM in the village does need updating so that it can take chip and pin cards but we found the local shop keepers and taverna owners would take the cards ok. Bali is a lovely quiet resort and we hope it never changes and we look forward to returning again soon.

"Fantastic holiday in Bali Crete"Rate:  4 Stars
Just back from staying in the Amalia apartments. The hosts are lovely especially the young lad Manos who makes great chips!. The apartments are clean with regular towel and bed linen changed every few days. When we arrived we were placed in the infamous room 11 where there were problems with the air conditioning and fridge which they tried to fix but after a day in that room we ask to change and were given a ground floor room without any hesitation.
Bali itself is lovely with many nice restaurants such as the Psaropoula where Eleanor and her family make great food. We also went to Bonsai for cocktails and the bar at the Sunset Apartments, Costas makes a mean brandy Alexander.
Be warned though the cash machine in the village doesn`t take chip and pin cards and not all of the restaurants take credit cards so take Euros with you or ttravellors cheques.
Would recommend this resort and although the apartments are basic, they are spotless . The resort was great for families, couples , not for 18-30`s and had good Beaches.
It is hilly but the views are lovely.
