"Great hotel, amazing area"

Rate:  4 Stars

I stayed at Thomas Bay for two weeks at the end of August 2011. As a 20 year old going on their first couples holiday I didn’t really know what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised! Our airport transfer took about an hour and a half as we did quite a few drop offs on the way. We eventually reached Thomas Bay around 1am and were immediately greeted at the reception desk by a lovely man who proceeded to carry my bags to our room as we had to go up a small flight of stairs. Unfortunately our balcony looked onto the hotel opposite which was a few metres away , but as we didn’t spend much time in the room this wasn’t really a big issue for us.

The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained and the service was great. The staff are so hard working and really make you feel welcome. The air-con was an extra charge, but despite the 32 degree heat, we didn’t use it once – the thick curtains in the room help maintain a really nice temperature all day. Our room was cleaned every day and although the cleaners didn’t speak English, whenever we passed them they always greeted us and were very friendly.

The pool area was clean, quiet and the free sunbeds and inflatables were a bonus. If you want a sunbed right by the pool get there early i.e. after breakfast! Entertainment wise, although they put something on every night we didn’t really stay in the hotel in the evenings. When we did though there was bingo, pub quizzes, greek dancing, live bands and impersonators.

We were staying half board and ate out most nights as all the restaurants are really good value for money, but we found that the nights that we did eat at the hotel, the food was often quite repetitive and salty. Dinner was a three course meal every night though with massive portion sizes, so pace yourself! As well as the numerous restaurants and bars in the area there is also a mini supermarket about a 60 second walk from Thomas Bay.

The surrounding area is fantastic – gorgeous weather, excellent restaurants within a two minute walking distance and a nice long sandy beach a five minute walk away. There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel which can take you to various towns. There is a beach front restaurant with its outside area directly on the beach – if you want a great sunset, visit here! Down by the beach there is also a little travel agents where you can book excursions. We booked a day boat trip to Paxos Anti-Paxos & the Blue Caves and I would definitely recommend this. Although the boat ride lasted for what seemed an eternity and they really did pack us in like sardines, when we finally reached our destinations they were absolutely gorgeous.

Although there is quite a bit to do around the hotel area, we hired a quad bike for a couple of days so that we could go further afield up into the hills. I would definitely recommend this as we saw some beautiful scenery. If you make it to the top of the hill there is a bar/restaurant that overlooks the whole bay – stunning!

All in all, I would definitely recommend Thomas Bay to people looking for a nice relaxing getaway. If you’re after something a bit more young and lively though, this probably isn’t the one!

just got back from thomas bay hotel 23rd july 2012 well what a pleasure, the staff are such a big complement to this hotel so freindly, i was acctually greek dancing the very first night we arrived, so they try to gert you envolved as soon as you arrive.the rooms are very pleasent and the air con is a must 35 euros for a week. The food was ok but chose to eat out as we like to go and try different places but the food is really ok it was just our choose. we ate most nights at the little prince just around the corner and the food there was beatifull. It was my husbands birthday while we was there and all the waiters at the little prince came and sang to him and they brought him a huge icecream with sparklers in which was love. The beach is very clean and brilliant for young children as you can walk right out and it only comes to your knees so all in all had a fab time in san stefanos corfu.

"The friendliest bunch of people ever"

Rate:  5 Stars

I have been going to this resort for the last 7 years but only stayed in the Thomas Bay for the last 2 years, I would not stay anywhere else now, They have the friendliest staff i have ever known in any hotel. One of the owners Dominic couldn`t do enough for us even if we come down late for breakfast he would make sure we had some. I got married out there this year but in a different Hotel and even though I wasn`t getting married in the Thomas Bay they still made it really special for me by decorating my room and balcony in ribbons, balloons and love hearts, Nicos brought his car to the hotel on the day we got married and had it decorated so that they could transport me to the hotel I was getting married in. There is a good variety of food for evening meal and for what you pay no-one can complain. The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels. I am hoping to return in September, I love it.

As complete novices to Corfu we arrrived on July 06 not really with any inkling of what a lovely holiday we were about to have. We needed a nice quiet break with the option of upping the ante or just chillaxing (sic). Upon arrival which was lateish we were given an evening meal after checking in, the rate for aircon and a safebox was sensible and the staff were extremely welcoming. First impression was a spotlessly clean and well organised Hotel staffed by what we think are genuinely friendly people who will go out their way to help you. The room was overlooking the main street which is typically dotted with bars and tavernas as per the rest of San Stef. Over the week we chose to eat out on several nights just for the experience and variety. This is no slight on Thomas Bay as the food there is excellent and equally enjoyable - the only aspect which lets it down is the sweet menu which is a bit naff and needs to be re-assessed in my opinion. We chose to stay local due to the heat and enjoyed a cracking beach and wonderful sea which is great for all ages. The only fly in the ointment if you forgive the pun - is the Mosquitos!! we have been bitten to death by the swine and Heather the receptionist quite kindly obtained some medication for us...... We never attempted breakfast as we rose about 10 am but ate at the Condor across the road which does a marvellous menu (try the Breakfast Bap, trust me) and at night do try Acabar for a cocktail, Demitri is a top host who is a very funny guy.... But please use the Thomas Bay too because the standard is just the same and the bar staff are really friendly. Location wise is bang on central to everything and it seems the hotel is revisited by many people everyear, which must stand for something??

Room tip: We had second floor front which was great......

"" OUTSTANDING, Tempted to keep it a secret""

Rate:  5 Stars

My husband and I have recently returned (July 23rd 2012) from a oustanding two week holiday, at the Thomas Bay Hotel San Stefanos (north) Corfu. For years, we have listened to my brother Ian (seven times a guest at the hotel) telling us, about how magical the hotel and staff are at the Thomas Bay. So we thought it was time to go and see for ourselves. It was all true! After spending many years in the Far East, it was a delight to re-visit Corfu again and we have just had the most amazing holiday, we have had for many years.

We arrived at the hotel early evening, in temperatures of more than 40 degrees and wonderful Heather was waiting to greet the both of us, with a very warm welcome and her wonderful smile. It was a very quick check-in and it was no time before we reached our room, which was very clean, comfortable beds and very good airconditioning (35 Euros a week), which was required in such high temperatures.

This was the first couples hotel we have stayed at and it was amazing. For once the brochure delivered. Very clean hotel, amazing staff, friendly polite and very funny nothing was too much trouble for any one of them, it was qiuet and relaxing and the food was not bad either. It was just lovely to be waited on at each meal, instead of standing inline at a self-service hotel. We have never felt more relaxed and pampered.

Different entertainment was laid on each evening, such as tribute acts (Elvis was very good and oh so funny), Quiz, Karaoke, Greek Dancing, Bingo etc, more than adequate, something to suit all. Don`t worry all the entertainment ended around midnight, so everybody can still get there beauty sleep. There was no head banging music around the very large crystel clear swimming pool, this was heaven. There was just pure peace and quiet, oh so relaxing. Excellent menu at lunch time and there was even lunch time specials, that came with a free drink. At 4:00pm each afternoon, the hotel even served afternoon tea, with a great choice of cakes, essential for the quintessential Brit.

Most of the people we met at the hotel, where repeat guest`s (20 years and more, like the amazing groups from Wales and Scotland). What better testimonial can a hotel have than that. We didn`t want our blissful holiday to end.

As the Terminator said "WE`LL BE BACK" and can we have room 221 again next time please.
Big `THANK YOU` Domnic, Nico, Heather, Irene, Little Nico, Christos, Stephan, Aki, Maria and all the other staff, see you all in the very near future we hope.

WE LOVE YOU ALL xxxx

Pauline and Tom N

"Second Visit"

Rate:  5 Stars

This, our second visit in two years, could have been memorable for the wrong reasons. We stayed from May 24th until June 7th, 2013. Unfortunately, my wife was taken ill after 2 days there. We had to call a doctor out and my wife was issued an urgent prescription. There was no way we could have collected the prescribed drugs because it was a Sunday and there were no pharmacies open near San Stephanos.

Without any hesitation, Nikko the barman, offered to collect the medication from his local pharmacy... and he did so. He would accept no reward for his action. Hey! Was this just brilliant, or what?

My wife`s illness apart, the staff at this hotel are just amazing. Roll on the time until we can visit again.

"Just like coming home"

Rate:  5 Stars

We arrived at Thomas Bay late on the 31st May 2013 to be greeted by Christos with a lovely warm welcome back, he had remembered us from 2 years ago. This is the only time my husband and I had ever wanted to come back to the same hotel and we were not disappointed. The warmth and love emanates from all the staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the food is lovely with a good selection to choose from for the evening meal. This is very much a place to come away from the high pressure of work and totally relax in peaceful surroundings with a little gentle entertainment thrown in. The resort of San Stefanos is thankfully, still relatively small and quiet but with plenty of good restaurants and souvenir shops. The clean sandy beach is only a short stroll away from the hotel with plenty of sunbeds available. I really think we may go back there yet again and when asked I could truthfully say that it was the best relaxing holiday we had ever had.

"Excellent holiday, wonderful hotel."

Rate:  5 Stars

Had an amazing 10days in the Thomas Bay Hotel, from June 17th - June 28th. This was our first visit to Thomas Bay and Corfu and we were extremely impressed. Due to a stressful year of studying and working on graduate programmes, we were looking to just unwind and completely relax in the sun - and that is exactly what we got.

The hotel was simple but clean and had everything you needed. Despite reservations about being situated on the ground floor, we loved our room. We were on the side of the building, room 214, facing the next hotel. The room was peaceful (apart from the frogs, though you get used to them very quickly) and felt private. We decided not to opt for the air conditioning and found the room temperature perfectly acceptable - leaving the curtains closed during the day helped. The only downside to the room was the size of the shower - the bathroom is more of a wet room and it is impossible not to soak the floor when showering. However, there is a drain in the centre of the room and we just wore flip flops in the bathroom which was fine.

The pool area was great. Quite small, but we found that there were never more than 5 people in it at a time. A good number of sunbeds surround the pool and grass area, with ample umbrellas and a number of spots of shade too. Word of warning - if the wind picks up, it will either blow your umbrella away or turn it inside out!

The staff were brilliant - nothing was too much trouble. We arrived after 11pm and were offered sandwiches if we were hungry, even though food service finished at 10pm. The waiters were excellent - working 7days a week, always smiling and joking. They remembered your room numbers and learnt your preferences and habits, giving that extra personal service.

The food was fantastic! Breakfast, served from 7am-10am, consisted of Greek yoghurt & honey, cereal or fruit salad, with juice, tea or coffee and toast. You could have a full English for 2.50 euros. There were daily lunch specials which included a drink. You could upgrade to all inclusive (55 euros for 5days or 75 euros for 7days for 2people) which we did for our last 5days. Dinner consisted of a starter, main and dessert and there was a choice of 3/4 dishes for each and was served from 7pm until 10pm. There were always traditional Greek or Corfu dishes (definitely try them!) and the food was fresh and absolutely delicious! The roast potatoes were out of this world and we highly recommend the Kebab at lunchtime!

There was entertainment every evening consisting of bingo, quizzes, singers or karaoke. From reading previous reviews, we were aware that many of the guests were slightly older, and some of the quiz questions were more tailored to them, however it wasn`t a problem and still loads of fun. Any tennis, football, rugby or cricket was played on the TV, which was great, along with Sky Sport news and BBC news.

San Stefanos is a beautiful little village. There are a handful of bars/restaurants and shops, car and quad bike hires and a couple of private excursion companies. The beach is 5 mins from the hotel and is wonderful - clean, clear blue waters and a huge stretch of sand. Sunbeds are around 7.50 euros for 2 and an umbrella. It can get quite breezy during the afternoon. There is a bus stop outside the hotel which will take you to either Corfu town, Sidari, Rhoda or Kassiopi - though some of the roads are not for the faint hearted! We also did a little walk through the village and up the hill to a little cafe with beautiful views of San Stefanos, Arillas and some small islands.

Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely return to Thomas Bay!

This is the first time in 30 years of holidaying that we have stayed at the same hotel for two years running. We were not dissapointed again this year the hotel was just as good as last year. The hotel is very clean the pool area is also spotless and the staff are just as nice.It was allways nice going into the resturant to be wellcomed by christos with his great sense of humour and nico.If anything i think the food was possibly a little better this year. From the minute we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by christos it seemed like we were part of the family. The rooms were always kept very clean by the cleaners.(a big thank you to alex for looking after the "baby") We would certainly return again to the thomas bay again and reccommend the hotel to anybody.

Room tip: try to get rooms looking over the pool/resturant

"Good value for money "

Rate:  5 Stars

I spent two weeks at the Thomas Bay with my cousin and as I have severe osteoporosis I contacted the hotel before arriving to ask for a ground floor room - this was attended to and we had a lovely room which suited my needs. The food was most acceptable and the staff were absolutely fantastic - we did have the full breakfast most days but learned that with the fruit salad (not tinned in our case) was fabulous and you could also ask for a little Greek yoghurt and honey on top - yum yum. I have looked at a few comments on trip adviser but would just like to say that this is not a five star hotel and is extremely good value for money so other reports saying the food was British orientated were wrong (I love Greek food) - we ate out a couple of times and all in all the food was no better than the Hotel. I could recommend "Waves" restaurant/bar on the beach for a good lunch in a nice clean environment. This is a very nice little village which has a lovely beach but do not expect gourmet restaruants because you will not get them. A good chill out and if I do not come again with my cousin I may be there with other family members.... Just one point, we had taxi transfers from and to the Airport which was a good idea as it can be a lengthy transfer by coach. Thanks to Heather & Irene along with all the guys at the bar and also Chris & Stephan who were great everyday in the restaurant. Want to come back again at sometime.

Room tip: Bathroom is adequate but you do have to struggle a little with the shower - but most Greek places ar...

"Did what it said on the tin. "

Rate:  4 Stars

Have just spent a week at Thomas Bay and found it an extremely clean, very friendly and relaxing place to be after a week cruising. The room we had (325) did what it said on the tin, bed, wardrobe, shower ensuite, etc and was cleaned daily, even if the cleaners were a little prompt on their duties. Hotel did have an iron, but no board, however, the bedside table came to the rescue. We opted for the Aircon (5 Euros per day), due to the heat wave that struck San Stefanos and it paid dividends having the door closed with nature outside.
Yes, the frogs can be noisy and the birds slightly early in their awakening, but this is life, it even happens up here in Scotland (okay not so much the heatwave). Talking of the frogs, they are situated in a stream leading down to the sea and have turtles for company, one downside of this stream is that by the hotel it gets full of rubbish and should be cleaned more regularly, but then again why litter it when there are bins by the bridge!
The food is fairly simple and very much dominated towards the British menu, however, my wife and I tried all the Greek dishes on offer for dinner and these were very good indeed. Continental breakfast is basic, cornflakes, yoghurt & honey or fruit cocktail (mainly tinned) with two toast each and coffee or tea. Some people have complained about only 1 butter and jam portion, but we asked for more and it appeared. The fried option is only 2.50 Euro for 2 eggs, bacon, sausage and baked beans or an assortment of other egg style breakfasts this was fine and did fill you up if required. Lunch options, a full range on offer from classiscal Greek/Corfian or British equivalents and priced accordingly against the other restaurants. We usually like to go B&B or SC, but were on HB here, but we did go out one night for some fish at one of the tavernas by the beach, lovely setting of the sun to accompany this too.
The bar offers some great hospitality, a very good choice of beers/lagers, shorts and cocktails served by an array of staff throughout the day. My only complaint was that smoking was allowed in all areas, even inside, which meant that smoke got in my eyes, and no this was not my song at the Karaoke.
Entertainment was fine and traditionally British (Karaoke, Quiz, Bingo), alongside some `tribute` artists which were quite entertaining. However, Nico, Nicos & Akis did entertain us with some very Greek dances, not sure of the meaning of trays, ashtrays etc being thrown during one of their performances. If this is not your scene then the other bars have a variety of entertainment going on.
The beach was only a 5-10 minute walk to a wonderful bay of sand with plenty of sunlounges and parasols, costs between 6 - 8 Euros for all day, with some of the beds giving a 2 euro discount in their hotel snack or bar areas. The beach goes out a long way until deep for the serious swimmer, however, it is deep enough to swim and to allow thsoe not so confident of the sea to enjoy it knowing that they aren`t in too much danger. The beach does have a naturist part, off to the North, not partitioned off so it could be embarrassing if you did not know about it, we were informed. Off to the South, is the old harbour and a short walk over the hill you come to the new harbour, only a portacabin style cafe here mainly for locals, but the walk is worth it.
Scott, the Thomson`s Rep, was extremly knowledgable of the island and resort and was not over bearing trying to sell trips and activities. Shame the local breakfast walk had been curtailed, as other reviewers mentioned how good it was.
The local shops, tavernas, gift boutiques are well sourced, prices do vary but not drastically, much of a muchness. Some fantastic gifts for memories or for the variety of people back home.

All in all we had a fantastic relaxing break, just what we ordered, and have already looked at other places to stay int hsi resort, highly recommended. We may not be in the same hotel as stated before we prefer looking after ourselves, but will call in for a drink to se ethe old faces again. We would highly recommend this resort to all, as it has something for everyone.

All staff are extremely helpful and though some of the communication can be mistrued by somefter a hectic week of cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere
