"Convenient"

Rate:  4 Stars

Samaras Hotel big plus is its location. It is situated at the center of Lamia and if you are lucky to be placed at the second floor and above you can also see the see. Variety of cafes and restaurants are next to you. The room was always clean even though they could do some refurbishment. One thing that disturbed me was the fact that I was given a room facing the back of the backside of the building even though there were free rooms at the front. Maybe it`s the hotel`s politics to await their customers until they request what they deserve...

Room tip: Even if they provide a room at the back of the building, do request another room at the front...

"Very Good Hotel"

100% spotlessly clean nice business class hotel on central square in Lamia. Lots of busy coffee places around. We got two rooms adjoining out of season for 80 euros. Perfect for the family although definately a business class hotel.

despite a good review from lonely planet this hotel was overpriced and drabby. the room was poorly decorated and the walls had peeling paint. On the positive side, the room was clean and the hotel was in a good location.

I would recommend checking out the hotel america nearby, similar rooms, less than half the price

"Surprisingly pleasant, located on lively square"

Rate:  3 Stars

Our family stayed here for two nights in July 2008, not because there was anything in Lamia itself that we wanted to see, but because it looked like the best place to spend the night before wandering around Thermopylae the next day (a must for classical history buffs, even though the terrain has changed and there`s not much to see of the ancient battle ground). We had booked via email prior to arrival, and found Themistokles to be very helpful in taking care of the details.

There is parking on the street--no guarantees--but also a small, underground, sort of dungeon-like parking lot as well. It was a bit of a trick getting our car in there, although just as we were finishing, someone from the hotel (I think) was parking another car, and did it like it was a piece of cake. Next time, that guy`s parking MY car, too.

The rooms (we had two) were fine--nothing fancy, but no complaints, either. We thought the town was pretty dead during the day, but it woke right up at night, and the hotel`s location on one of the town`s squares made for a pleasant evening stroll through that square and beyond.

The location for Thermopylae is perfect, but it is also well situated for a visit to Meteora (which we did the next day). So all in all, this was a hotel I can recommend, and will probably stay there again if I am in the neighborhood.

"Comfortable"

Rate:  3 Stars

This was our first day driving on our own in Greece, so found the spider web of one way streets very difficult. We had not booked but had no trouble getting in (this is not a tourist town but pleasant)
The rooms were small but comfortable and we enjoyed the view of the children playing football in the Plateia.
Breakfast was included in the price. There was also a car park, but I wouldn`t try it in a big car.
