"Basic but nice"Rate:  4 Stars
A nice, yet simple hotel. Nothing fancy. After you go inside you must go up 2 floors. The elevator is very small. Only enough room for 2 with luggage. The room was basic, no frills, high ceilings, big windows to see up and down the street. It was quiet and located on a quiet street. Breakfast was typical in a medium sized dining room. The food was good.

"No frills, but pleasant stay"Rate:  3 Stars
We stayed at Hotel Wieland for one night. When booking the hotel, my main concerns were location, parking, and breakfast included. The location is just off the KuDamm making it easy to walk to bus stops, shopping, restaurants, etc.
The breakfast was typical of German hotels & Gasthaus. It included several types of juice, coffee and tea, a nice selection of rolls, yogurt, cheeses and meats, cereal and milk, etc. The staff kept busy refilling the buffet and clearing dirty dishes, but managed smiles and greetings when someone came in or left the breakfast room.
The parking situation was the only negative that I could think of. The website that I booked the room with stated that parking was available for a discounted rate. Unfortunately, the parking was on the busy street and first-come-first-serve. All parking places were full no matter what time of day or night. We ended up parking in the nearby underground parking garage about a block away.
We had two double rooms. My husband and I had a double bed (actually two twins pushed together), a small but clean bathroom, and a window overlooking the very quiet courtyard. My mother-in-law and our 5 year old daughter had a room down the hall with 2 twin beds overlooking the street. Other than a loud arguement between 2 gentlemen on the street near midnight, the street did not have much noise. When we arrived, the light in the bathroom of this room was not working. I brought it to the attention of the gentleman working the front desk as we left to start our sightseeing. By the time we returned later that evening, the light had been fixed.
Although the staff didn`t speak much English, they did make an attempt to communicate with us. They were very forgiving of my terrible German.
Overall, our one night stay was pleasant and left us well rested for a full day of sightseeing before departing Berlin.

"BERLIN HOLIDAY"Rate:  4 Stars
Hotel Wieland is ideally situated at 15 Wieland Strasse, just 3 minutes stroll from Kurfurstendamm, it is easy to reach from Schonefeld airport, take the S bahn from the airport line S9 and get off at Savigny Platz (approx 1hr) exit from station at Schulter Strasse turn left, 2nd strasse Mommens strasse turn right, Hotel Wieland is on the junction with Mommens strasse less than 5 minutes walk from station.
The hotel is unusual in that it is situated on the 3rd floor of a block of apartments (lift available)
The rooms were average to small but very clean, towels every day, we stayed for 3 nights at a total cost all in of 240 euros.
Breakfast was buffet type with a good selection (included in price)
Travel in Berlin is extremely easy and cheap, recommend the day ticket at 6.30 euro which gives you unlimited travel on all transport systems in zones ABC, this ticket also allows you to travel to Potsdam and use that city transport as well.
For a cheap clean hotel this is the ideal one, however would not accept it is 3 star.

"Wiieland hotel was terrible!!!"Rate:  1 Stars
It was the most awful hotel in my life: nobody at the reception desk after 9pm, we get the room-key at the gas station on the next street, lift is very small, furniture is old, receptionist is impolite. Our holidays were spoiled!
There is only one plus - location is near the center, but I think it is not so important...

"Authentic German Pension-style accomodations"Rate:  4 Stars
This hotel is a very economical choice for clean, well situated accomodations for the single traveler. If you are wanting a typically American Hotel experience, this is not a good choice for you. Very small but exceptionally clean rooms with single beds. The hotel is actually on two different floors of a very old home on Wieland Strasse, a couple of block from the KuDamm. the staff is accomodating and efficient. Breakfast is a traditional selection of cereals, brotchen, wurst, cheese and beverages. Rooms have no phone and only two English speaking television channels. The hotel elevator is archaic, which added to the charm for me. would not consider staying here for business travel as there are no amenities suited to that.

"Older but adequate"Rate:  3 Stars
The Wieland Hotel is located on an upper level of a commercial building. It is in an older building, but our room was very large even with three people in it. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff were helpful and friendly although they did not speak English at all. It is adequately located about 200 meters from two sepatate U-Bahn lines and close to the Kufferstendam. It was moderately priced, but the front desk wanted payment in advance and said their credit card machine was not working and so they asked for cash.
