"Service is abysmal - fire the manager"

Rate:  1 Stars

Service here reminds me of Russia circa 1997. The minute you get off the elevator the front desk staff avoids eye contact & stares at the desk!! They are all completely inept about everything from room types to the neighborhood to restaurants . They only want to send you to Alpenstueck which is a terrible restaurant - but they must get commission because the hostess there used to work at Soho House.

The restaurant is hit & miss. Some mornings we had a charming Australian waitress & English waiter but other days zero service. Very pathetic .

Housekeeping equally pathetic . Bought some wonderful German cheese & put it in room frig only to discover it does not work at all. You think the mini bar person would notice that or are they too cheap to fix it?

Some times we got towels or tea cups changed but not always . Had to request the floor get vacuumed one night when we returned & it was dirty & obviously not cleaned at all. Last two nights we did not get turn down or water even though we had the clean room sign on. When we called for water they asked if we had dnd on/you know after all it`s always the customers fault .

Could be a decent place - room size not bad - just fire the manager & 99% of the staff !!!!

"Imagine yourself back in the days..."

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed here for 2 nights during the Berlin Film Festival and got a great deal on jetsetter.com. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the very casual and lively staff. We understood : this is not a random hotel. Our room was really nice, old English furniture, a flat screen TV, a mini bar, coffee making facilities and a bathroom with shower and toilet inside. Great was the mirrorheating and the floor heating in the bathroom. We stayed in a "petit" room but it was surely big enough for us. We even had a retro radio that was playing music when we entered and not to forget the amazing hotel amenities from Cowshed which are the best everrrr! The communal club lounge was full of hipsters. You could eat and drink there a la carte at decent prices, so really nice. The location is walking distance from some of the best places to visit in Berlin.

"Discrete top class urban design hotel, bar"

Rate:  5 Stars

This building is hosting a hotel, services apartments and lofts and is primary a privat members` club situated in the former Communist Party archives and the Central Committee’s Historical Institution and it still has this flavour but is now fantastically decorated urban style. It has a spa, gym, a rooftop pool, restaurants, bars, a screening room and private Event spaces. Its a place for people with style and style only.

Room tip: Many different options, ask advice at the reception

"Amazingly `cool` break"

Rate:  4 Stars

I was lucky enough to be treated to a weekend away in Berlin by my sister in Augst of last year and courtesy of both her and `Mr & Mrs Smith` this was our destination! We were treated to a fantastic upgrade to a fabulous room which was a good omen of the weekend to come :) Service was fantastic, friendly and helpful throughout.
My only negatives were the overpriced Spa treatments, more so on comparative quality, on the disappointing side for the time allocated and quality of massage. The only other negatives simply being the small pool that on a hot day was inaccessible due to the `beautiful` people draped along the sides and the location being slightly further out of main tourist sector... Otherwise in all other aspects 5*

"Yet another truly wonderful stay"

Rate:  5 Stars

Just had to review and say that we have just returned from a brilliant weekend here at Soho House Berlin. We were both running the half marathon there this weekend. We stayed here last year for the same event and an amazing time. What can I say... We booked a medium room which was perfect, bed is super comfortable, amenities first class - the best toiletries, fresh coffee!! And fresh cookies daily. Can`t fault it. Food is varied, tasty and well priced. The location is brilliant especially for the race. The staff are what makes this place so good. Kind, helpful, friendly and more than happy to go the extra mile. We love it. We will definitely be back next year for the race. Brilliant stuff... I hope they keep up the same standard. We both travel a lot for business and pleasure and this is undoubtedly our favourite European hotel by a mile.

Room tip: Definitely push the budget and go for a medium size room

"A trip to B&Q is needed in room 10."

Rate:  4 Stars

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars. It certainly should be 5 stars, but unfortunately it falls short.

It`s a very cool hotel and club, that are in keeping with the Soho House brand.

The rooms are well designed, and very stylish. The bathrooms are well stocked, and you needn`t bring anything with you.

The spa is fantastic, but be warned, nudity is the norm. I wasn`t prepared for this - copped an eyeful and started frantically apologising for having accidentally walked into the men`s sauna. I then had to walk back in, and pretend to be cool with sweaty testicles. Even the most hardened of hipster is going to struggle to style that one out.

We stayed in room 10, and within minutes of arriving a bit of skirting board came loose, and fell on the ground. We then noticed exposed wires from an unfinished light fitting and when I used the shower, the tap fell off. It`s meant to be `shabby chic`, but a trip to B & Q is needed here.

Whilst you`re in B&Q, treat yourself to a new fridge, as that wasn`t working ether.

We stayed two nights, and housekeeping didn`t replenish the tea tray. It`s hardly the most pressing issue in the world, I know, but come on, you get new tea bags in a Travelodge. Not that it mattered, because the milk didn`t get replaced either, and that was now very fruity, thanks to the broken fridge.

When the cleaner came, they thoughtfully removed the grating from the shower to expose the grey plastic drainage system. Weird touch.

I mentioned the fridge, and requested a second duvet/blankets (the duvet was too small for a bedding hogger like me), but nothing happened.

I would normally turn a blind eye, as I`ve stayed in loads of hotels that are much worse than this, but it was my birthday treat, and wanted/expected much more. When I stayed in the same grade of room in High Road House in Chiswick (I`m showing off here), it was absolutely faultless - and that`s what I had in mind when booking.

Disappointed birthday girl.
