"Clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation in the heart of Berlin"

Rate:  4 Stars

The most central of 8 Motel hotels in Berlin I was reliably informed, and so it was. This budget designer chain prides itself on providing luxury at low prices through its distinctive design, luxurious touches and by maximising comfort. Stayed in a double room for single occupancy, which was aesthetically pleasing, clean and had good ambience. The ‘walk-in’ wardrobe, as they nicely dress it up as, is just a rail attached to the wall with hangers, next to the mirror. The shelves next to bed, however, provided ample space for storage. The bed was very comfortable and there is also a flat-screen TV in all the rooms. There was a small desk which had just about enough space to work on but the ‘egg’ chair isn’t so great on the back (as it has no back!) so this might not be the best choice if you’re staying here on business or have work to do in the evenings.

The showerhead was the largest I’ve seen! Strong water pressure and granite flooring, together with the ‘rainfall shower’ made the experience of showering so enjoyable that it’s no exaggeration to say that I could have stood there all day. Also, not something I usually comment on but the toilet must have had one of the most powerful flushes of all the ones I’ve ever used. They only provide a small bottle of shower gel which doubles up as shampoo; no handwash. Also, there didn’t seem to be any sort of ventilation system which, bearing in mind the relatively small size of the bathroom, turned it almost into a sauna.

There is no phone in the room which might present a problem for those with mobility problems. However, reception is open 24 hours a day and the lifts are so efficient that if you have any issues or are simply peckish late at night and would like a bite to eat, you’ll be down there in no time.

On the ground floor, right next to reception, there is a large lounge area where you can enjoy a drink or snack, surf the net (they provide iPads free of charge if you’ve not brought a laptop or otherwise don’t have access to the internet) or simply relax after a busy day exploring the city. The ‘One lounge’ also doubles up as a bar and breakfast area.

Since I was only staying the 1 night rather than the original 3, I decided to go for their breakfast buffet for an additional €7.50. This was your standard European fare i.e. continental style with unlimited hot drinks, juice and a decent selection of rolls, cold cuts, cheese, croissants, yoghurt, fruit salad, boiled eggs and cereal. Good but slightly overpriced.

The staff are bilingual and efficient. The only qualm I have was the knock on the door from a cleaner at around 9 or 9:30 in the morning. Luckily, I was up and had already had breakfast by this time but it felt too early given that I was checking out on this day so they could have waited a little longer perhaps?

As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is very convenient. The Airport-Express train from Schonefeld Airport (RE7 or RB14) stops at Alexanderplatz station; the journey takes about 20-25 minutes. If you’re travelling from Tegel, I believe there is a bus that runs directly to Alexanderplatz.

All in all, decent value for money considering the location and would definitely consider returning here if I come to Berlin on holiday.

"Fantastic locations and value for money"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed here for 1night. We`re given a warm welcome by Paul. Check in was quick and efficient. He gave us some recommendations on where to eat and the night life. We had a room on the 7th floor. Great views. The room was warm and comfortable. Nice log fire on the flat screen when we entered. Bathroom was very clean.. usual toiletries. Spacious shower. Would recommend to all.

"No Air Conditioning"

Rate:  1 Stars

I will confess, I am on a Motel One war path, because of air-conditioning. They advertise air-conditioning, but do not have it. I call it deception. I used to like the Motel One concept. Clean comfortable design without unnecessary frills. But promoting air-conditioning when you do not provide it is tantamount to fraud. At the Motel One Berlin - Alexanderplatz you are trapped, because you are on the S-Bahn line so you absolutely cannot open the windows and sleep. It is like being trapped in a sauna. Worse, they make you pay in full when you check-in, so you can`t even leave for another hotel unless you want to double pay

You should absolutely avoid this hotel.

"Lovely place to stay"

Rate:  5 Stars

Motel One Alexanderplatz was a very pleasant stay. The rooms, reception and bar were great. I loved how modern and clean everything was, and all the public transport is almost right outside the front door. The staff were happy, friendly, professional, and willing to help. I really enjoyed my stay here
