"Wonderful hotel, wonderful city"

Rate:  5 Stars

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in March 2014 and had an amazing stay.
It`s very easy to get to from Schonefeld Airport using the Express Airport shuttle train and a combination of U-Bahn and S-Bahn trains. (Smart phone users: Download the `VBB Bus & Bahn` app - very useful for getting around Berlin!)
The hotel is situated on a busy, modern road with loads of places to shop and eat - and only a stones throw away from the Ka De We shopping centre.
Upon arrival the staff were really helpful and friendly, and spoke fluent English. They even enthusiastically recommended places for us to eat in the nearby area giving directions and a map!
Our room was clean and very spacious, with what I can only describe as the BEST shower I`ve ever used. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Only thing missing from the room was tea & coffee making facilities, but that is only a minor point, who wants to stay in drinking tea & coffee on a city break?!
We booked our room to include breakfast (recommended as to book breakfast after arrival is €17.00 per person, per night) and the choice was amazing and definitely something for everyone. With cereals, pastries, sausage, egg, bacon, yoghurts, various meats and cheese and even smoked salmon on offer.
Our room was facing the street outside, which could be slightly noisy at times (only slightly!) so would recommend staying on the other side of the hotel or higher up if you`re a particularly light sleeper, but again only a minor issue, after exploring all day, we were too tired to notice!
Access to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn is fantastic at this hotel, with only a 5min walk to either in either direction.
I would definitely recommend this hotel! :)

"1st Trip to Berlin"

Rate:  4 Stars

Reasonably priced good hotel and good location fairly close to the centre of Berlin. Very close to Wittenberg Undergroud.
Excellent breakfast. Bar staff were very helpful and attentive. We ate in the hotel one night - very good food and fairly reasonable.

Also also ate at San Marco italian restaurant across the raod and to the left. Very good food, good service and very reasonable prices.

"First Class"

Rate:  5 Stars

Cannot fault this hotel at all. Stayed there for 4 nights in March and it was perfect for a long weekend break. Close to trains, buses etc which enables easy touring of the city. 10 minute stroll to Ka Du We and then on to the bustling city. Breakfast at the hotel was perfect for starting the day. Enough to choose for any palate and plenty to keep you going through lunch if you so desired. Friendly staff and very nice bar. One niggle was the standard of the wifi service but it was poor all over Berlin in my opinion so not solely a hotel issue. Rooms were immaculate and pristine and very comfortable. Wouldn`t hesitate to book here again.

"OK for motel-style bed & breakfast but definitely not up to 4-star rating."

Rate:  3 Stars

I am amazed that this `hotel` gets an official 4-star (first class) rating. It offers decent enough B&B facilities, certainly very clean, stark modern décor, reasonable size rooms with pretty decent bathroom facilities (except small and thin towels), but it fails in other areas as a hotel. The rooms have open shelving instead of drawers or cupboards, small safe (not big enough for a laptop), but no tea or coffee-making facilities - there is a minibar however. And to make matters worse, after the buffet breakfast room closes (and this only offers the full buffet, no other options), there is nowhere to get a coffee or a bite to eat until the small bar/restaurant opens at 4 pm. So no facilities whatsoever during the day - you have to go out to the street to get a takeaway from a nearby café. How can this be a 4-star hotel with such a basic lack of daytime facilities?

Final warning - be careful if travelling with children. All the rooms have big windows at waist height which open inwards fully, leaving a huge opening with no restricting or retaining devices on the windows (as would be usual in this situation). A child (or an adult with a will) could easily fall out of any open window in this hotel (and the higher floors would mean instant fatality for anyone who fell). A warning is printed in the in-room info, but to me this is a serious safety failing which the management should address.

"Very rude receptionist and bad internet service !"

Rate:  2 Stars

I have stayed at the Ivbergs recently and I must say that the service was poor to plain rude.
The receptionist was behaving in a very condescending way, treating us like children.
When checking again the times of the breakfast , we were being told: "I`ve already said it- You`re not listening!" and answering in such a rude way.
On top of it- The Internet service, which has been FREE up until yet now costs 4.95 EURO per day. (1 hour for free in the Loby, yeh thank you very much..)
The only light in this hotel is the nice breakfast and the big rooms.
Other than that, very very bad service and rude staff in reception!
Do not go !

Room tip: not recommended!

"Great budget hotel"

Rate:  4 Stars

We stayed there as a group of five visiting Berlin for the weekend. Having priced our trip at the budget end of cost we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. The reception was very pleasant, rooms small, but clean with modern furniture. Shower excellent so everything you need. We used the bar every night for a drink before going out (and sometimes coming home as well !!) and it was first class, very friendly staff and reasonable price. The breakfast buffet did not disappoint.
The hotel was close to transport so it was easy to get around, also just a short walk to KaDeWe. I would say the area is on the edge of a less salubrious area, so we stayed clear of any of the local bars in the evening, but it did not detract from the visit.
