"Just what we wanted"Rate:  5 Stars
When staying in European cities we have only a few basic needs. Comfortable bed & room, good breakfast, within easy reach of the centre, shops & transport and friendly staff.
This hotel ticks all the boxes. On arrival late at night we were checked in and had room 208 - overlooking the street and plenty of space. Breakfast the following three days was filling and kept us going through busy walking trips, sight seeing and shopping. It was convenient to public transport which was very easy to negotiate.
A very busy three days went all too quickly - if ever back in Berlin we will remember you.
Thank you for your friendly attention to all our questions.

"Nice small hotel in leafy streets on good part of Kurfurstendamm"Rate:  4 Stars
I have stayed 2x. Good hotel, and good value with proper helpful staff. Well run hotel. Great breakfast and small spa. Location is first class in quiet leafy street on good part of Ku`damm with numerous good small restaurants in walking distance. Also the U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations both 5 mins walk so great for getting to the busy centre or out to Charlottenburg Palace and the 1936 Olympic Stadium. We enjoyed our break - it all worked and I liked the area. I would have liked tea making in the rooms for the morning - typical British request! You have to like modern style. Overall I would use Bleibtreu again. I also went out jogging up to the Zoological gardens which was a nice run. I`d say convenient and nice location really helps. There`s a really excellent Italian trattoria La Cantina in the same street and just up near Savignyplatz is a wonderful old pricier German restaurant called Lutter & Wegner which has been there since 1814. All good.
Room tip: Definitely go superior for space and a desk

"Nice hotel in central West-Berlin location"Rate:  4 Stars
If you would like to stay in the center of former West-Berlin (which is not really the center of the united Berlin) and are looking for an alternative to big hotel chains, you should stay at the Bleibtreu,
Located in posh Bleibtreustraße ((just around the corner of famous Kurfürstendamm), the hotel has a nice modern style and very friendly staff.
SInce it is located in the backyard of the street, it should be quiet at night.
Unfortunately there have been construction works next to the hotel when I stayed there so it started to get very noisy at 7 AM (hammering, shouting, singing of construction workers)...
The deli / bar was closed because of construction but breakfast was served (and Bleibtreustraße offers many alternatives to eat or drink something).
Here`s my list of PROs and CONs:
+ free WiFi
+ friendly staff (front desk, house keeping, breakfast café)
+ an apple and free minibar (water, coke, Bionade, non alcoholic beer) in room
+ room safety deposit box
+ good location if you plan to visit Kurfürstendamm, Gedächtniskirche etc (former West Berlin)
+ modern furniture / style
+ great breakfast buffet (EUR 19), omelette and fresh juice available upon request
- bad lighting in bathroom if you would like to do your make up (only lighting from above, not next to the mirror)
- complicated assembly of light switches but none to switch out the lights when you`re in bed
- deli / bar closed (March 2014)
- loud construction work next door (March 2014)
- light barrier of elevator does not work: I was hit very hard by the sharp glass door. When reporting this to the front desk, they confirmed that the door hit many guests already but the technicians have not figured out yet how to repair the door...
- if you would like to explore the former East Berlin, you have to travel more than half an hour to all the bars, sights, shops etc.
Room tip: In March 2014 room 506 was facing a very noisy construction site, the builders started to hammer and...

"Nice hotel but nothing special"Rate:  3 Stars
We were looking forward to staying in the Bleibtreu hotel and the stay was nice but not amazing. Positives were the breakfast and reasonable location, negatives were the building works in and around the hotel, friendliness of staff and thinness of walls. We arrived at around 1130 and we were told we were too early to check in which was not a problem, we left our bags and ventured out into Berlin. On our return at around 6pm we checked in but the greeting was not great, considering we were checking in we were giving no welcome other than the time that breakfast was served. We stayed in room 407 (business room) which was fine, quite small but suitable for our 2 night stay with newish fixtures and fittings, there were however hairs found in the clean bedding and on the floor. Wet room gets wet and the shower curtain isn’t much use. On Monday morning at around 0730 I was woken up by workers on the scaffolding in the courtyard of the building, I am glad I did not stay mid-week as it would have been very annoying. There was also work done right outside our door at around 1100. Without any warning 2 builders started cutting a hole in the wall! The stay was ok but not that extra special stay that previous reviews suggested.
Room tip: Ask for a room the opposite side to the scaffolding.

"Good choice, but far from public transport"Rate:  4 Stars
We stayed at Bleibtreu during a short week in February. The room was nice, clean and with a spatious bathroom, it even had a little balcony. Only 3 english speaking tv channels, and all of them business related. The hotel is situated in a nice and safe area, with plenty of shops and restaurants near by. The only thing we would have changed was that public transport was quite ways from the hotel. The S bahn at Savingny platz is about 0,8 km away and the U bahn is closer, but with a line that goes "nowhere" and requires a lot of changes to get to the tourist sites.
Room tip: Building work on the main floor in, high up.
