"Great Hotel"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed 2 nights in June and we found the Electra Palace to be a fabulous choice. The rooms were of good size not overly big but spacious enough, it had a couch and a desk and a bench with a mini bar, the balcony faced the street that was quiet during the night. The bathroom was a bit small but the sink was on just outside the bathroom so it was not to bad. Bed was comfortable and clean. The only problem I had was power points, there seemed to be a lack of them unless I pulled out the lamp or TV, there was one behind the couch but it didn`t work.
Breakfast has a definite highlight, such an assortment of dishes from hot food to cereals, fruit and cakes and they will make you delicious cappuccinos or espresso or whatever takes your fancy, very helpful staff who were never to far away to help you.

The inside pool was ok I thought it was a bit dirty, but there were a lot of people in it, the outside one looked amazing but it was a bit to cool to swim. The gym is small but has what you need to get a good workout.

We had a dinner in the rooftop restaurant and the food was delicious and the views were just spectacular.

I would most certainly stay at this hotel again if ever back in Athens, as the position is center to all the historical areas, we walked everywhere and never felt we were to far from anything.

Don`t hesitate if you are going to Athens you will not be disappointed.

"3rd Visit and it is still the best!"

Rate:  5 Stars

This is our third stay and we would really struggle to go elsewhere when we are in Athens.
The staff are amazing and they seem to be the same every time we go which is a good sign.
The rooms are a real treat when you have just been on a Greek island for 2.5 weeks.
The roof top restaurant has THE most romantic setting and the food is inspired.
And finally - location, location, location - I don`t think you can beat it!
Yes the pool gets crowded so don`t expect to have it to yourself. The city is so hot that you need to cool down so be prepared to "share" and just enjoy the privilege of being able to take a swim in the shadow of The Acropolis - awesome!!

Room tip: Get a room with an Acropolis view!!

"Quality hotel"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed at a the Electra Palace hotel for a total of three nights, two after arriving in Athens on July 12-13th and one night at the end of our vacation. The front desk staff were friendly and responsive. Our hotel room for the first two nights was very clean, had an excellent view of the Acropolis, and had a mini fridge stocked with snacks and alcohol which was a welcome site since we journeyed a long way to get to Athens. The room was a little small but it was fine for my wife and I. Note: the queen bed was essentially two twins pushed together but it was comfortable and clean. The bathroom had a bidet which amused my wife. The room for our last night was bigger but it did not have a view of the Acropolis. This did not matter to us since we had already seen it and were leaving the next day. Each room had a programmable safe which was convienient and easy to use.

The hotel has a small pool on the fourth floor with a beautiful view of the Acropolis. The pool and surrounding area got a little crowded but it was still fun and refreshing. There was a bar nearby, also with a view of the Acropolis, and the bartenders were friendly. We enjoyed Mythos beer from our room mini fridge, at the pool bar, and during our entire vacation. Too bad I can`t find/buy it now that I`m back in the U.S. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant because we went out a lot and thus I cannot comment on the quality of the food. We did have an appetizer at the bar and it was excellent.

The hotel was located just 2-3 blocks from the main tourist shopping/eating district (I believe it`s called the Plaka). When you leave the front door go right and you`ll find it. Don`t go left unless you`re trying to find Syntagma square or a beautiful nearby church. The hotel had an excellent selection of breakfast items served buffet style. It was probably the best breakfast of any of the hotels we stayed at during our trip. It had everything from eggs, bacon, and quiche, to greak yogurt, fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, etc. In short, I highly recommend the hotel. We had a great experience.

Room tip: We enjoyed both rooms. The room with the view of the Acropolis was smaller than the non-view room w...

"Small rooms, but superb location"

Rate:  4 Stars

Pricey, even for a tourist hot spot, and very small rooms, very conservative deco, but the upsides were very nice people, good breakfasts, and just about the best location you could think of. You could walk right to the Acropolis in a few minutes, and right in the middle of Plaka, but just far enough from hussle of the tourist shops. The tiny 8 table restaurant on the corner was icing on the cake.

"Great spot to base your stay in Athens"

Rate:  5 Stars

My wife and I have visted Athens twice and on each ocassion stayed at the Electra Place. I belkeive there are two Electra Palace Hotels in Athens - this one is nearby to the Plaka and the pick of the two. While all the rooms are comfortable, the pick would be the suites with a verandah which you can sit and look up to the Acropolis - morning, day and night. Great buffet breakfasts, close by to the city and a quick walk to the Plaka and restaurants. Staff are very helpful and courteous and the rooftop terrace is certainly worth at least one dinner.

"Good value, great location, helpful staff - Best in Athens"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed at the Electra Palace Hotel before joining our cruise, previously we have stayed at the Grand Bretagne in Athens. The Hotel has one of the best locations in Athens right in the Plaka surrounded by restaurants and cafes, with fantastic views of the Acropolis. The room are huge and well appointed, and the public areas are very impressive and pleasant for a drink or coffee. The staff, especially the concierge and doorman were extremely helpful and friendly. We have previously found Grand Bretagne staff rude and unhelpful, and as a result will not stay there again but we will stay at the Electra Palace Hotel. Can`t recommend it enough.

Room tip: Ask for a view on a high floor with a view to the Acropolis, great of a night with a bottle of wine...

"Not that impressive for a 5* hotel"

Rate:  3 Stars

On entering the porters are quick to take your luggage and the receptionist was helpful on check in. The standard double room was very small but comfortable. Unfortunately we had an interrupted night`s sleep in room 610 due to noise from neighbouring rooms, which we can moderately forgive as we are in a hotel afterall. However, cleaning staff were incredibly noisy and unprofessional. The `Do not disturb` sign on the door was pointless. From early morning they were chatting and laughing very loudly outside the room, and whilst cleaning the neighbouring rooms they were banging bins, slamming doors and chatting to each other over the hallway. They even repeatedly banged the vacuum cleaner against our door. I asked for them to keep the noise down, which they did .... for a few minutes then the noise started up again. I did complain to reception on check out and they said I should have contacted them .... but we were only there one night (on the way back from a friend`s wedding) and were extremely tired, plus, in a 5* hotel the cleaning staff should be much more professional and should not be behaving so unprofessionally! The hotel manager came to speak with me when I complained, but I did not get the impression that it was particular concern for them at all - no resolution was offered or small discount from the bill. After check out our luggage was left at the hotel all day as our flight was not until 7pm, but we were not offered a complimentary drink, and the 10 Euros already spent on drinks was not even removed from the bill, or the breakfast costs taken off the bill. I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. Another thing, the breakfast selection was very poor - do not have high expectations or you will be sadly disappointed. We had to ask the Maitre D` 3 times for coffee and when it was brought over it was `slammed` on the table the Maitre D` walked off with no smile or comment. The hotel may be rated as 5* but the customer service and consideration for guests was definitely nowhere near that. Lastly, do not ask the hotel reception to book a taxi for you, what they do not tell you is that this automatically adds 6 Euros to your taxi fare - we felt we were ripped off going to the airport and paid 45 Euros - the taxi driver`s response to our concerns that we only paid 35 Euros on the way in was: "you don`t like it you call the police".

Room tip: We paid 170 Euros for a standard room - unforutnately due to the experiences on this trip I do not f...

We loved our one night stay...l wish we had stayed many days. Our room was clean, inviting and the marine bath products devine. No view from the room and screwtop wines in the outdoor bar were the only drawbacks. The pool was adorable...with the parthenon overhead

"50th birthday made very special"

Rate:  5 Stars

I wanted to organise a special experience for my wife to celebrate her 50th birthday. We planned to be in Athens and I went online to see if I could find somewhere romantic. I liked the look of the Electra Palace Athens and sent an email asking if they could do something to help me. Their Assistant Hotel Manager, Dimitris Athanasiou, booked us into one of their Acropolis view rooms and when we walked into the room our hearts just lept with joy. From the room and from the balcony you can look straight up to the Parthenon and we just sat out there for hours enjoying the magic experience of the spectacle both during the day and evening. If you want a place to remember for the rest of your life check into an Acropolis view room at the Electra Palace Athens. The staff were also fantastic and our sincere thanks to all.

Room tip: Make sure you book an Acropolis view room

The Electra palace was in a fantastic location , right in Plaka. The room was very nice and average size for a urban hotel. The price was fantastic though we were there in the midst of americans concern about Athens. The staff were not as friendly as I would like but helpful. I would stay here again and go to Athens NOW it is empty safe and a fantastic city. Jackie NY

We were warmly greeted upon entering the lobby. The check in staff was very helpful in suggesting things to do after we had checked in. The breakfasts were outstanding -- so much variety and so plentiful that we were able to skip lunch. The hotel is centrally located -- within easy walking distance to the Acropolis and Plaka. And the pool was very refreshing and provided excellent views of the Acropolis.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Acropolis.

"Electra Palace is a hit"

Rate:  5 Stars

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, the rooms were clean, the service was excellent, the people at the front desk were very helpful ( arranging taxi at 5:00 AM to the airport, advising about neighborhood restaurants). Added benefit , the breakfasts were wonderful and were available indoors or in a beautiful garden setting. The rooftop restaurant is quite exceptional both in regard to the cuisine and in regard to the fantastic setting overlooking the Acropolis which is illuminated at night. The restaurant was open air till mid October. The hotel location is wonderful , right in the Plaka district within easy walking distance to all the interesting sites. There is a marvelous swimming pool on the rooftop patio which is very refreshing after tramping around Athens in the September heat. The Acropolis can be seen from the pool and patio and there are towels and lounges available. Really a great place to stay.

We just spent two wonderful days at the Electra Palace Hotel. Excellent service. Friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was good, and the fitness room was small but sufficient.
It was a few blocks from good restaurants and key sites. We would go there again!

"Good Hotel for a Busy City"

Rate:  4 Stars

We stayed here for 3 nights. THe hotel was very clean and comfortable and staff very helpful.
Breakfast was great and included - anything you wanted virtually.
the room was right on the main streat and can be noisy - there were riots opposite which made nights noisy but not the hotels fault.
Found this good value for money, and well organised and polite staff. Would recommend for a short stay as you dont spend much time in your room in Athens - theres way too much to see!

Room tip: Try to get a room not right on the street and make sure you ask for non smoking

"My best stay in Athens ever!!!"

Rate:  5 Stars

I have been to Athens already 22 times and this is the 23rd trip. I will not mention all the other hotels I have been to because the Greeks are by nature very hospitable and kind but this hotel, Electra Palace tops anything else in town. The personnel are extremely well mannered, helpful and friendly. The comments about street noise are a little exaggerated, after all the Plaka is not a remote island but the rooms do have sound-proof windows. The lobby is stunning, very airy, stylish and welcoming. There are numerous hidden corners with comfortable sofa`s to sit with your company or your business contacts in all privacy and comfort. The room was spotless and shinning and always smelling nice. The beds are so comfortable and the linen so crispy clean that makes you want to stay in bed. There are 2 groups of elevators, one on each wing and the wait is no longer than a few seconds. The breakfast room is very large and comfortable and there are sufficient staff to greet you and get your coffee pot in a matter of seconds. The best coffee I had (perculated) and always warm. The staff have always make sure if I needed anything special and when I was late for breakfast they always welcomed me and brought anything I wanted from the kitchen. If you plan to go to the Acropolis in order to get some shots, stay where you are because the view from the rooftop of the Electra Palace beats anything else, by day or by night. I love this hotel and will return to it in March.

Rate:  4 Stars

We started and ended our Greek holiday here and the Electra Palace was a a bit of luxury either side of our long trips. The rooms were a bit small but the ambiance, the pool area, great breakfast and attentive friendly staff made it a very relaxing interlude each side of our travels from and to Australia. The location is also a great one to wander the smal streets to the Acropolis and back.
