"Review from an Afitos regular!"

Rate:  5 Stars

My mum and I stayed at the Achtis for a week in July this year.
As a family we have been coming to this resort for the past 25 years! We have stayed in many hotels/apartments in Afitos but we have to say the Achtis is something special and in a league of its own!
Upon arrival we knew we were in for a fabulous time. We were asked our names just the once and the staff never forgot, It really amazed me how they could remember all their guests names!
Our room was on the ground floor, it was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had a large bathroom with a bath and a shower. We could not fault the room at all.
The hotel grounds were idyllic , the pool was a great size and the pool bar where meals were served was perfect.
The only one negative about the hotel were the sunbed issues. Our rep informed us not to put towels on beds as management were trying to stop this happening. It was probably the worst I`d experienced. Grown men were claiming beds around the pool from as early as 6am. They would sit there reading for hours until their other halfs made an appearance. I really do think more should be done the whole week we were there it was the same people claiming `their` beds each day!
Food was lovely we had breakfast and lunch daily plus an icecream and a couple of drinks. All was put on a tab and paid at the end of our stay.
We didn`t eat at the hotel in the evening as we love the village and eating out.
We heard nothing but praise for the achtis whilst we were there.
A special thank you to Lillia she made our holiday, a lovely friendly happy young last definitely a big credit to the achtis.
Thank you for a lovely stay!

"Achtis Hotel wow, Afitos wow! "

Rate:  5 Stars

The Hotel Achtis and its staff is everything everyone has already stated, excellent!

But, the village of Afitos is certainly undersold and is the additional jewel in the crown. A short 300m walk, about 30m is reasonably steep if in high heels, but certainly not a problem and not as bad as some make out. The village has a central square area made up of the Church, a few bars, restaurants and ice cream parlors. It is paved and pedestrianised and is beautifully relaxing, no loud bars, families and couples only, mostly Greek, quite a cosmopolitan feel on an evening. The streets leading to the square are pedestrianised and full of holiday shops, restaurants and low key bars. The village is traditionally built and has kept all its years of character.

Walk through the square and you come to the cliff terrace with some low key cocktail bars and 7/8 Restaurants with uninterrupted views of the sea and far coastline. Every bar, cocktail lounge and restaurant is in the open air and candle lit. You could be in Italy or the South of France, if not for the very laid back Greek service and very reasonably priced food. A wonderful village, mixing Greek authenticity with low level chic for young families and couples.

The village has about 6 bars, 4 cocktail bars, about 20 restaurants and lots of ice cream parlors.

Enjoy!!

Room tip: Third floor rooms have beautiful views of the sea.

our 2nd visit to the wonderful Achtis hotel, there is nothing I can add to the wonderful reviews already posted on trip advisor.
We had a fabulous stay at the Achtis last week, the weather was amazing and the hotel & staff were outstanding in every way.
New member of staff, Lilia, is such a lovely addition to Magda`s already "fab team".
Anyone thinking of visiting the Achtis, think no more ~ go book it, you won`t be disappointed !
However we`re so, disappointed to hear tour operators won`t be flying to Thessaloniki from any northern airport ~ doesn`t make sense to me.

"Brilliant "

Not much I can really say about this place that hasn`t already been said. Go read the other five-star reviews, because that`s what we based our trip on and we weren`t disappointed. The bar girls are amazing, the rooms are cleaned every morning, the location is incredible and the town itself is very nice and relaxing. If I were to ever go to Afytos again, I`d certainly choose the Achtis Hotel.

"Just great! "

Rate:  5 Stars

We`ve been at Achtis Hotel in Afitos in July 2012 (2 families with 3 children between 7 and 12 years), and I can say that we felt great there! The location is marvelous, with the rooms and the terrace / restaurant of the hotel surrounding a beautiful swimming pool. The garden with green grass and trees, a small "lake" (with fish and turtles) and peacocks walking free between sunbeds, is equally enjoyable. And we know it takes a lot of effort for the hosts to maintain it as green and as beautiful as it is! The rooms are spacious, beautifully arranged and extremely comfortable. The ones at the ground floor have less natural light and the air is a little humid (as they are closer to the pool), but this doesn`t make them less comfortable. The breakfast includes quite various options (some of them better than the others), the local yoghurt being particularly appreciated by my family. The hotel is located some 700 m from the Afitos beach, but we spent a lot of time by the pool and (since we went there by car) we also visited other beaches in Kassandra, so we didn`t have a problem with this. I can`t end this review without saying that the hosts and the staff were extremely nice and helpful, which made our experience even more enjoyable! All in all it was a great holiday, and we highly recommend it!

Room tip: Rooms at the ground floor (although nicely arranged and comfortable) have less natural light and the...

""ANOTHER HIDDEN GEM""

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed at the Achtis Hotel from 28th July for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. I agree with the above review - it really isnt a long walk to either the Supermarket or Restaurants. Go out of the back of the Hotel keep walking straight, down a steep slope for approx 2 minutes then turn right for the Supermarket - we had 2 fantastic meals at the Restaurant called The Corner on the righthand side on the way to the Supermarket and this was great for people watching!

Magda and Achilles the Management are around the Hotel all the time for anything you need to ask and they are excellent in their customer service relations. Achilles let my "fish mad" son feed the fish every morning which are in the pond within the grounds. I know you shouldnt have favourites but Lilia a member of staff was absolutely fantastic and never stopped smiling however busy she got!

We booked 2 rooms - one ground floor for our 3 boys and we treated ourselves to a Superior Room which was absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were cleaned very thoroughly and the maids were lovely. The rooms had airconditioning, fridge, plenty of storage space and a balcony overlooking the pool if you were on the 1st floor or a terrace on the ground floor.

The pool was open from 9am until 10pm and for the 1st year ever my son didnt get an ear infection from the water! We even had peacocks roaming around the Hotel! Fantastic! The deep end of the pool was just over 2metres!

The breakfast at the Hotel had everything you could wish for....fruit,cereals,breads,jams, honey,eggs,bacon,sausages,beans,melon,coffee,tea,juice....and the Restaurant was open all day for meals until gone 10pm serving various salads, feta, spag bol!carbonara, moussaka, burgers, chicken the list goes on. The BBQ night was great but we only went our 1st week as we do like to venture out to the town and try different Restaurants. Ones worth trying are, The Corner, Tomato and Pepper, Christos (our very favourite) Nikos, Soubou. On the way down to the little village look out for the 90 plus year old lady who cannot talk English but talks to you from her window. so sweet and you can see inside her house which is unbelievable just one room with a little bed, small table and chairs and i couldnt see a kitchen!

If there is anything i have missed and you are thinking of going im more than happy to answer any questions! I truly recommend this Hotel and i will definitely return again!

Room tip: Ask for a Superior Suite, well worth upgrading to

"Another fantastic holiday"

Rate:  5 Stars

We stayed at the Achtis Hotel end of July beginning of August for 2 weeks. This is our 3rd year holidaying here and just when you think it can`t get any better it does. Magda, Achilles, Kristina, Elena, Lilia, Natalie and all of the staff are fantastic and bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. At this hotel the staff go above and beyond in making you feel cherished as a guest and make your holiday more like staying with friends. Nothing is too much trouble including Achilles taking my husband and son to the local hospital late in the evening after our son had a fall. Thomas Cook and Thomson were selling this hotel up until 2012 and are not doing this next year which I think is madness on their part. I advise anyone that is thinking of travelling to Afitos to contact Magda on the hotels website and book direct with them and organise your own flights which we`ve done for the last 2 years. When we were staying there the hotel were offering to organise transfers from the airport for bookings for 2013, however car hire is a good option even though we only ventured from the hotel on a few occasions to have a look around. Occasionally problems can occur within the rooms, we didn`t have any and we had 3 rooms as there were 8 of us, but we did speak to a couple who had an issue with their air conditioning and having brought this up with their tour operator rep sat back and expected it to be sorted out. When it wasn`t after a couple of days they spoke to Magda who sorted it out the same day having not been made aware of the problem. Afitos contains a number of restaurants (far more than 6) and having been over the last few years we have eaten in a number of them and enjoyed our meals there. There is a supermarket 5 minutes walk from the hotel and yes the hill is a little on the steep side, however, we managed to walk up and down it most evenings without a torch and pushing a pram with a 2 year old in it. Sunbed claiming is interesting and does happen but the only people that can affect this is the people who persist in doing it as there is no easy solution for the management to implement. I can`t think of a better place to spend time which is why we booked for next year before leaving and happily will be spending 3 weeks in 2013. I can`t recommend this hotel highly enough as we have never found a hotel that we would happily return to year after year. Thanks all.

"A little bit of paradise"

Rate:  5 Stars

Spent a fortnight this August at this wonderful hotel. I have never stayed at a Hotel where the staff know you by your first name from the moment you arrive!! Nothing was too much trouble and if there were any problems at all then Magda and Achilles did everything they could to put things right - all you had to do was ask!! The pool area is amazing and we NEVER had a problem finding sunbeds and shade at any time of the day (only a problem if you wanted to be a foot away from the edge of the pool!!) The peacocks roaming the hotel grounds were fantastic and very amusing to watch! The BBQ on Friday evening is not to be missed - excellent value for money and great fun. The village of Afitos is lovely, with a good choice of restaurants (Nikos, Tomato and Pepper, Steki and Christos to name a few!), tavernas and bars-none of which were very far away - and a great atmosphere in the evenings. There is a very well stocked supermarket no more than a 5 minute walk away. Worth getting a hire car (Magda can sort that for you) and getting to see a bit more of Halkidiki. All in all a fabulous holiday and can`t wait to go back again. Thank you so much Magda, Achilles, Lilia, Christina, Helena and all the staff for making our holiday so great.

"It is ok"

Rate:  3 Stars

Can this hotel fail to live up to all the hype? YES
After travelling for 12 hours we were kept waiting for our room for an hour, yes we got a free drink, but I’d have preferred a shower and then a swim.
The room, superior, had several lights not working; the light shades were missing from the bath room; the air con was not sufficient for the size of the room; the remote was missing for the TV. The bathrobes were ripped to tatters, when we opened them up. Shabby.
There was no lighting or air con in the corridors, I know things are hard, but having some lights would help finding the lock on the door.
The pool area is nice, bar well stocked and a pleasant garden area; BUT the fishpond attracts LOTS of flying things!
The staff are excellent, but the sulky free loading family really detract from the atmosphere when the slouch into the bar or pool area.
You need to be up REALLY early to get a sun bed, if you leave it until after breakfast you have no hope. No its not the Germans, its Brits up early bag sun beds AND chairs, not sure whey 4 people feel the need to have 2 sundeds and 4 chairs saved all day and use for a couple of hours
The location is very poor. It must be the longest 200m in the world to the nearest supermarket! There are NO shops or bars in easy reached, the steep unmade slope into town, takes 10 minutes to reach the nearest supermarket; and as for coming back up, well if you have ANY health problems it will be difficult. You will need a torch to avoid the diverts and pot holes on the way back. If you venture out in the evening a torch is essential.
The beach is even further away, so we didn’t even attempt it!
There are less than half a dozen restaurants in the village centre, we went to 3, all ok
A week was enough, pleasant people running an ok hotel; having read all the reports on Tripadvisor maybe my expectations were too high. This is at best a 2 star hotel, in a poor location, but well run

Room tip: Don`t waste your money on the upgrade
